Anyone using a Numatic vacuum for dust extraction

I have Henry's sister Wendy in my shed, and use the old Black & Decker vacuum tub as a cyclone dust catcher, I removed the motor and replaced it with a piece of ply with a hole in to take the pipe from Wendy, which keeps the bag in Wendy empty and clean.

    Let it load....

Our smart tv would have a diky fit when using some of the apps, so I turned it into a dumb tv by doing a first installation/factory reset, and not letting it connect to the Internet, and put all the apps on the firestick, my reasoning is that's what it's designed for, not like the tv, works a...

Each to their own, as they say?!

Very interesting, one thing is that there's no mention of manual machines, ie. treadle fret saws or marquetry donkeys.

Fair enough, I have trouble remembering last week, never mind months ago. :)

    A moan about my saw....

Cozzer, not sure of the type of saw you have but I have these which are similar. 1 is a Shapercraft and the other is a Scie Magnetal. The clamps on them look a lot easier to use than yours.

Post a photo of the last thing you made

This tea light holder I made a few years ago, has burnt over 40 tea lights in the tin holders, that I know of, and hasn't shown any signs of burning. It's cut out of Beech with a Danish Oil finish.

    Combination Pliers

A bit late to this thread but my combination pliers are Eclipse, some I've had for over 50 years. Older versions of these.

Phil, a spurtle is the name for a fancy stick used for stirring porridge or soups or any other liquid in a pan. Usually has a thistle design at the top end to represent it's Scottish origin.

    Cutting Maple....Blunt Blade?

Not sure if this will work with what you're using, but when I'm scroll sawing I, along with a lot of other scrollers, cover the wood with clear packing tape to prevent the blade burning the wood. It's something to do with the release agent on the back of the tape lubricating the blade.

    Scotch tape

To help prevent the blade burning while cutting. Clear packing tape works as well. It's something to do with the release agent on the tape.

DELTA 2 Speed 16" Scroll Saw - Sevenoaks

The top blade clamp is incomplete, the Quickset blade clamping system is what makes it a cut above the rest. That's why it's cheap and no bids. I would only consider buying it for spares.

    Makita 2012NB

I use mine outside, (because there's not enough space in the shed) and just sweep up after I've finished. ;):)

Scrimper's the man most likely to be of any help with this, you might be better off posting this in the scrolling forum.

I've had success using a tennis ball or similar in the bowl, held in with the tailstock.

Advice on reasonable scroll saw and extras

If I was to recommend a scroll saw it would be either a Delta 40-540 or 40-560 type 2 both fitted with the Quickset blade clamps. I've have owned both for over 25 years and they're both still working. Unfortunately they are now only available second hand. As for sanding the side of the wood...
