Why do some scroll sawers put scotch tape over the pattern that they have already stuck down with prit stick glue stick

To help prevent the blade burning while cutting. Clear packing tape works as well. It's something to do with the release agent on the tape.

Just dont use it on MDF.
Pulling off lifts the fibres and gives a rough surface.
