    Rcd tripping

Silly question, but have you had anybody test the RCD? Any electrician with a testing ticket and an MFT can test to make sure the RCD is not faulty, and causing nuisance tripping

    TRV adaptors, any ideas?

Your local tool hire place such as Speedy Hire will have pipe threaders for the old pipe, or you can just strip it back to the nearest fitting and convert it to copper with a male iron to copper compression adapter. If you do convert or if you have sections of copper already then inhibitor...

    Labour's Employment Rights Bill

And lets not forget the banana gaffer taped to a wall.......... EDIT - Just got the the bottom of the thread and see Fergie 307 beat me to the banana :ROFLMAO:

Electrician // Manchester ¦ North West - Recomendations

While you may think Plumbers and Electricians would command higher wages, due to the shear lack of Plasterers, Brick layers and Carpenters available it seems these trades are currently top of the earnings potential tree.

Electrician // Manchester ¦ North West - Recomendations

Sadly this is just another example of what our nanny state, overly reliant on regulation does for both workers and customers at ground level accross most trades. The customer gets left with a feeling of being ripped off, while the tradesman gets left with, well, not alot after the relentless...

    Banggood, VAT, import duties

I too have ordered several woodworking items from bangood such as veiko ratchet clamps and t squares along with some engineering squares. So far I have had no problems with any part of the process or the quality of the products. I would so much prefer to buy UK made (aka benchdogs or...

    Festool KS60 to 100mm extractor

With the feet on its deliberately the same height as a small single systainer. The idea being that on site you use the closed systainer as a work support for longer lengths. Just realised that's not really helping much, sorry. 😀

Zero clearance fence on a Kapex - does it affect the dust collection?

I have a 3d printed zero clearance insert on my K60, I can honestly say the only noticeable difference for my use is prevention of the small trim pieces getting stuck under the base. The Ks60 has an alignment line for the angle finder gizmo (brilliant for bay window skirting in victorian...

    Ebay relisting?

As an ebay user I was intrigued by this and messaged the seller asking - Why has the item been relisted? The almost immediate response was that "Hello, so I issued again because I haven't received the payment yet, I know that the buyer has time to pay a few days but also often does not pay for...

Thermal solar - would this work?

Stick with PV panels. £ for £ they are more efficient than Solar thermal water heating.

a new era of low cost, accessible and efficient heating?

Stick to Solar PV, even if you then use the generated power solely to feed an electric immersion heater for hot water £ for £ including initial investment it's more efficient than Solar thermal water heating.

Osmo oil on a Wickes Oak door? (says not to)

These wickes doors look identical to the howdens holdenby oak doors, and they do have the same 'no waxes or oils other than osmo door oil' warning. That said I have last week used briwax clear wax on 4 of these very doors with no immediate side effects other than breathing the fumes.

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

Surely the real problem lies not with the problem itself nor indeed any of the proposed solutions which different contributors have offered up through this thread. The real problem is the inability of the people to effect change until some sort of societal fulcrum point is reached. What is...

My wife's died. Well, according to Inland Revenue....

Ahem. I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to delete this part of your post Sir. You've just inadvertently given away our secret investigative weapon, and opened the floodgates to millions of successful claims. How will we ever claim back over paid benefits and tax if the masses realise we...

Just to stir the pot, has anyone noticed...

A pretty much spot on assessment of the state of British Politics and the government, with all the current crop of parties affected. Labour will alas be no better, their only real claim to fame is that Starmer is not a career politician, he at least did used to have an actual job. The...

    Building control gone mad?

It is perfectly acceptable for a homeowner to deem themselves competent without taking any course or qualification. If Joe Soap as a homeowner works on his own gas and does so safely without any issues then he could be deemed to be competent, however he would need to be able to prove if asked...

    Compressor Query?

    (y) A cable rated for the 16A current connected with the correct 16a blue plugs and sockets would be absolutely fine. The manufacturer probably refers to standard 13A extension leads which would likely be unsuitable as - 1) The machine requires a 16Amp supply 2) A large number of cheap...

    Trim router recommendation

Yep another late Makita vote here, If your invested in the Makita battery platform then the battery version is a no brainer. The full kit comes with the trim router, the plunge base, the offset base and I think an adjustable angled base - search for the DRT50ZJX3 kit Its plenty powerful...
