You don't have to have a Hegner to do good work Fergie, many people do wonderful stuff on a cheap machine - even a treadle machine or hand frame, it's just that a quality machine (not just a Hegner - other makes are decent too) makes it a lot easier and less frustrating especially doing work...

I normally use a pin chuck in a normal cordless drill, if the work is really delicate and needs a very small hole i use a mini drill (like a dremel). :)
