Thanks Jim. I've had loads of ideas spinning round in my head, you all make so much sense when you describe things. Yes I'm having the glass made. I will be speaking to them about drilling holes etc and getting any advice I can from them. I'm off to Screwfix now, I love tools :-D

Ok, so now I'd love your expertise advice please. I am currently working on projects similar to the above pictures. The advice I need is as follows; 1. How should I attach the glass to the barrel? I don't really want to use glue. Some kind of retaining clip? Some sticky circle things? 2...
