    Soft close

These are the same as the ones Ikea did before their hinge clip on ones. Ikea advised they are installed 15cm out from the door hinge. Works generally - but if the door is heavier you'll need it positioned further out. Sounds like your is positioned too far out. Try temporarily sticking it in...

    Buy a DMT xFine/Fine 250 2stone"- any good

Hi I would recommend the duo x-coarse / fine as a good starter stone. The x-coarse can be used for loads of things - including grinding primary bevel (still takes time) and flattening waterstones and the red fine is a very useful grade for lots of things - you can then use something else to...

Compressor for pumping up loads of inflatable stuff??

Thanks - it is stuff like small bouncy castles, ball balls etc - but not the big ones that need blowers. I'll try and get hold of one of those camping ones - they are pretty cheap. Cheers Gidon

Compressor for pumping up loads of inflatable stuff??

Hi We've bought a lot of inflatable stuff for a children's party. Are there any suitable attachments for a compressor for pumping them up that anyone knows of? I know the regulator would have to be turned right down so I don't blow them up - but would the limited airflow make it not worthwhile...

    Gaining accuracy

In my experience you have to finish off on a decent shooting board. I also tape together opposing pieces if they are not too thick - to keep them the exact same length. Cheers Gidon

    Gaining accuracy

CC FWW had an article recently on a "5 minute dovetail"- it wasn't so much an excercise in dovetails as an general woodworking exercise. It's worth a look. The trouble is even if you practice and can do a good job - if you don't cut one for a year it can be tricky getting those same results...

Sharpening stones - what regime do you use

Ed Use a diamond stone or some sandpaper - both work well taking off the sharp edge. Cheers Gidon

    Triton - what's the fuss?

Both the Triton and Trend are good routers - if the Trend T11 was going for £98 there would be even more posts about it I'm sure! Kafkaian - I've never seen a T10 or T11 in B&Q - they sell a budget range of Trend routers not available anywhere else in B&Q. The T11 is the T10 but with above table...

    Cheap Air Compressor

If you see my posts on the AW30HP - it seems the 16A problem is actually a batch of faulty compressors with dodgy unloading valves (IIRC - Digit's the expert). As mentioned previously I replaced the AW30HP with the SIP equivalent and no problems at all with a 13A fuse whether the tank is full...

    More Triton offers at B&Q

The Plymouth (Derriford) store has lots of half price Triton saws if anyone's interested. No routers that I noticed though. Cheers Gidon

    Chicken Run

I thought the program was very good. It does frustrate me though when they spend so much attention on the one loudmouth that they'll never convert. I've seen this in other programs of this ilk before. You'll never convert everyone - she just wanted HFW to give her a free lifetime's supply of...

    vertical panel saws

That was a Ian Dalziel article wasn't it? It was very good - I remember being tempted to give it a try. I liked the outside one attached to the fence. Cheers Gidon
