BOSCH PMF 180 E AND XEO CHEAP ON B&Q

Nice pics thanks! Bosch stuff is always well built - even their cheaper DIY green range. Please let us know how you get on with it - especially the detail sander function. Cheers Gidon

    Ouch...!

Well pipped at the post by Matthew with a far more concise post! Welcome to the forum. Cheers Gidon

    Ouch...!

Rich Hopefully these two pics will help - these pics are what NOT to do. You want to avoid the cut being between the bit and fence. If in your first cut x is greater than y then the second cut will be ok. If you fed the second cut in the pictures from left to right across the router table that...

Wood branding iron on the cheap ...

Thanks Andrew - does the job. Cheers Gidon

    Ouch...!

My sympathies too - nasty. I've done something very similar to this before too but luckily didn't catch my finger. Hope I'm not telling you the obvious - but take it you know why the workpiece was dragged? It's because that second pass you were actually taking a climb cut. I did this once not...

    Camera suggestions?

Neil It's true that you can operate a DSLR in full P&S mode - but unless you're happy to carry around that bulk all the time they aren't necessarily the right choice if you really are after a P&S camera. I use my DSLR (Canon) when I can but more and more I slip my compact in my pocket. My...

    dovetail jigs

Momo I think the mostly unhelpful replies is due to the fact that you posted in the Hand Tools forum. You may have more luck in the Buying Advice forum ... (mods?) Cheers Gidon

Wood branding iron on the cheap ...

I thought it would be nice to mark pieces I give to friends and family with a branding iron so I set about making one. It's pretty rough and ready but here you go if anyone's interested: Bought a cheap set of letter stamps - £6 this set but sure you can find cheaper: On this set I needed to...

    Anyone use air filtration ?

I do too - I have the Microclene mc400. They are quite effective but this one is way too noisy for a small shed. I would recommend finding a quiet one - I can't hear the radio over mine which means I tend to have it off when I'm in the workshop and on a timer to come on when I'm not there which...

    Norton 3X Grinding Wheels

Thanks for the review Philly - I've toyed with getting one of these before - is this the same thing:? http://www.rutlands.co.uk/cgi-bin/psProdDet.cgi/4677 I'm sure I've seen it given the thumbs up by someone else too but can't remember who ... Cheers Gidon

Waterproof finish for soap dispenser holder (WIP pics)?

Thanks chaps - never used melamine (melamine lacquer right?) - will give it a try. Wizer - my family all came down at Christmas and loved it - they all wanted one! Just shows sometimes the simplest things and all that! Cheers Gidon

Locking nut to stud - superglue or studlock?

Will have to get a tube of metal weld too then ;). I've certainly used general purpose epoxy before. Thanks, Gidon

Waterproof finish for soap dispenser holder (WIP pics)?

I've made some of these (WIP here if anyone's interested) for presents but a little unsure how to finish them: This one is finished with 4 coats of finishing oil and buffed with some wax (which give or take a few coats of oil is my normal formula). But because it'll most likely be near...

"Engineered vs Solid" wooden flooring - plus which

Gary I've put down a lot of engineered wood flooring in my house (Kahrs Linea). It's as easy as laminate to lay and it's stable. This thinner stuff is handy depending on what you're taking off. But the stuff I went for is only 1mm of real wood! So no chance of sanding out scratches etc. Depends...
