    Good wood working

Thats a real shame Rob - hardly hands across the water to our new friends is it? I'm sure we could all learn something from them, as much as us from them.

    Good wood working

It's all woodwork guys, c'mon. I'm sure we'd all benefit from the experience of someone who the magazines have chosen to write for them.

I'm not sure what orientation you are drilling, but you haven't hit a steel lintel have you? Masonry bits will just bounce off it. Try an HSS metal bit and see what happens.

    What Glue

Epoxy is your friend, as it is best for gap filling, I believe that PVA also has some gap filling qualities. PU on the other hand has very poor gap filling qualities, dont be tricked by the foam as it has no (relatively speaking) strength. As i understand it PU glue works best under high...

    Jointing a table top

A planer does leave shallow scallops in the surface of the wood, have a look next time you are in the workshop. You are right that the speed of the timber passing across the blades does have an effect. A hand plane on the other hand can leave a perfectly flat surface if used correctly(!).[/u]

    My Belated Secret Santa Photo

I thought that the ramp went the other way on a ramped shooting board - I'd better go and check before i say any more...but, that way round you have a chance of tear out on the top edge and the workpiece will want try and lift as you use it. If its the other way the force of the plane will...
