    Bench Morticer from Axminster

Stuart, near the top of this thread Tony posted a link to another thread that has details of the modification. Some/most of the work was carried out by a local machine shop he found in "Yellow pages" for about £7, if I read the post correctly. Basically, he took off the base and got two...

    Axminster bench grinder??

Just caught up with this thread again. I can highly recommend the Veritas tool rest and straight jig, though I haven't tried Axminster's own one so I can't compare. The difference in peripheral velocity between 6" and 8" wheels, at 1250 rpm is 10 m/s for the 6" and 13 m/s for the 8". So I make...

So I’m looking to buy a saw...

Hi Tom, Yes I do have a Triton WS. I take it you mean tilting the balde for bevel cuts? That is the Triton's biggest weakness. The saw won't tilt in table saw mode mainly because of the way the riving knife/splitter is mounted. There is an additional bevel ripping guide for beveling edges...

    which rip saw?

Hi Sparky and Welcome. Mike Wenzloff is a regular on this forum and his products are very highly regarded. I haven't personally used one of his saws but I think it would be worth the wait.

Loose mortice and tenon joint on cabinet door

Not an expert by any means, but could you cut and glue a veneer of the same wood to the tenon cheek?

    face frame question

The Kreg Mini only costs £15. Or you could make one from off-cuts. If it is only for a couple of frames it doesn't need to last forever.

So I’m looking to buy a saw...

The Triton Workcentre 2000 might fit the bill for your budget. It performs very well as a table saw and easily converts to crosscut mode to do most of the things a mitre saw will do. Have a look here. You do need to supply your own circular saw (the Triton one is great in the Workcentre) and the...

    Triton DCA300 Dust Collector

Hi Mike, They now call themselves The Woodworking Centre and they have updated their website since the last time I bought anything from them. They have pdf files with exploded diagrams and parts lists of all the Triton kit so it is easy to find what you need.

    Bessey Axminster deal

According to the web site, mine are on the way. They are in the ANC tracking system anyway.

    Planer knives

How about getting a Veritas planer blade honing jig and doing ityourself. Never tried one myself as I don't have a planer but the other kit I have from Lee Valley is first rate.

cordless drills and batteries, NiCad V NiMh.

Not only do you get better quality batteries with the likes of Makita, you get better quality chargers. Cheaper drill/drivers have simple "dumb" chargers tht keep on charging after the battery is fully charged. The batteries then overheat, which dramatically shortens their life.

    metal fitting's with allen head's

These sound more like what you are after, tho' the Screwfix ones look to have Phillips type head.

    Triton DCA300 Dust Collector

Forgot to say that I also use the Triton dust collector with my router table. It has two collection ports so I can hook it up to the fence and to the router under the table. Spare connectors, hose etc. are cheap from the Guys at Sharpend services.

    Triton DCA300 Dust Collector

I have the Triton dust bucket, I think that is what you mean. It works ok and stops a lot of dust getting into the vac. It has a filter in the lid that tends to clog after a while, but it is easily cleaned. There are also plans around to convert it into a mini cyclone. Can't find the link right...

    Public Announcement Concerning 10,000th post

Don't go Alf, we'd miss you too much. I'm sure the children will promise to behave from now on. Just wondering though, does sending a message of support count as trying to provoke a reply? (no response expected by the way).

    Bessey Axminster deal

Sounds like a great deal. When I bought a couple of K100s last year, D&M were the cheapest I could find at £32 each so £52 for 2 plus the duo-clamps for free you can't go wrong. Maybe Axminster are trying to make up for the poor quality Bessey rip-offs they have deen selling recently. I am...

    T track and router fences

I made an L-shaped fence for my table, which is held in position with a couple of G clamps. Quick and easy to set and you can set the fence at almost any angle relative to the table top. For example, my router is set close to the front of the table but if I want to edge profile wide panels I can...

    Dust protection for spectacle wearers

Hi Neville and welcome. I too have the Airace with visor and, like you I think it is great. My only problem has been when wearing it in cold conditions a fair amount of condensation builds up in the mask, which dribbles out when you take it off. No more fogged up glasses though, which is a big...

    New Axminster catalogue

That is a good point Brad. I almost always make my order up to £45 to get the free delivery. I have a 15 - 20 mile round trip to get to my local Screwfix trade counter or B&Q (in opposite directions too) so the fuel cost alone will be around £2, not to mention the time it takes and the...
