    Attention Tritoneers ?

I'm another "Tritoneer". I have a Workcentre 200 with Triton saw installed. I also have the Maxi sliding extension table and a home made crosscut sled that runs on the fixed rail of the Maxi. The other Triton kit I have that has been particularly useful to me is Multistand. Well two of them...

    Workshop roof

When I had an attic convertion done some years ago the building control inspector made my builder rip out the rock-wool insulation and replace it with foil- backed PU foam board (Kingspan IIRC) presicely because there was no air gap between the insulation and the sarking. I'm pretty sure he...

    Sheet material needed

Melamine would give a nice smooth surface but the iron-on edging would still leave a fairly sharp edge that would snag delicate material. I would edge it with wood and round over the edges with a router. That has got to be about the cheapest way to do it with the least finishing unless as said...

    Adjustable In/outfeed table: Concept

My cheapo drill press doesn't have an adjustable table or depth stop, just a clamp to hold it on the pillar. I use an old scissor jack under the table to give me a degree of adjustability. It works pretty well but I have to take it out if I want the table all the way down (not very often).

    router table trouble

If there is enough metal around the screw hole it should be possible to carefully drill it out and re-tap the hole to a bigger size without weakening the mounting.

    router table trouble

I don't know the SIP router, so I can't comment on it specifically. Take off the plastic baseplate and use that as a template to mark out and drill the holes for attaching it to the table mounting plate. You may well need to get a longer set of screws. I have used countersunk screws for mine and...

    Vernier calipers

I have the Axminster Verniercaliper and it is more than accurate enough for woodworking. Having said that I am seriously thinking about a getting a digitalset, as I sometimes struggle to read the scale of the Vernier...must be getting old :(

electric nail guns (worth it or not)

I think that the cheap electric nailers have a poor reputation. I have heard that the Rapesco ones can't drive a 20 mm 18g brad into softwood. My cheap Cosmo/SIP nailer/stapler will sunk a 50 mm 18g brad. Compressor and gun cost about £80. The advantage of electric nailers is that you can take...

    Triton sliding tables

I don't think Woody had anything to do with Bob Jager's sled but he posted the original idea I used in building mine. I'll try and find the link and post it later. edit; Here is the link to the Aussie forum thread. I made my sled bigger, with the fence pushing the workpiece through the blade. I...

DW, the screen shot you posted shows the dollar sign. You are obviously more cautious than I am, I would just have gone for it. On the other hand You can usually pick up all the tips and tricks for free on excellent sites like...er...um...oh yes...UKWorkshop.

    Triton sliding tables

Karl, I have the Maxi table and, you're right, it has a fairly large footprint. If I clear the workshop floor I can get it set up ok but it fairly fills up my work space. Because of this I have made up a cross-cut sled that runs on the inner (fixed) rail of the maxi. I bought a set of inner rail...

    3/8" Butterfly air impact wrench

I had a look at the specs. for a couple of impact wrenches after I read your post, mainly because I didn't know what a butterfly impact wrench was (for quickly removing butterfly wings?) and the 1/2" heavy duty wrench I looked at listed only 4 cfm average air consumption compared with 3 cfm for...

    Triton Multistand

I have a couple of Multistands and have no problem with them at all. I use mine to support a cutting grid, made of 2x4 and 2x6 timber for handling 8' x 4' sheets, where the tilting heads come in very handy for loading on a whole sheet. The heads of both units lock dead level and hold firmly even...

I'm sure you all thought of this already, but....

I've used the Quick Grip type clamps for this sort of thing in the past. The type that can be used as a clamp or spreader. There is a latch that allows the head to be removed to turn it round for converting between one mode and the other. Slip the bar through the dog hole and re-attach the head...

    Triton Router

I'm always surprised that Triton use imperial size guide bushes and imperial thread screws for the baseplate too, as Australia has embraced metrication much more than we have. The scales on my Workcenter are metric though.

conversion of aquavac to dust extraction

I use a Wicks workshop vac and a Triton dust bucket as my dust collection system. The vac hose plugs straight into the top of the bucket and there two ports with little blast gates so that you can collect from two separate sources eg. from the router table fence and the router dust spout below...

    Another compresser query? Noise?

The only reason I would go for a smaller unit was if portability was absolutely essential. A bigger capacity compressor is just so much more versatile and will run a wider range of air tools.
