    SWMBO's gems?

I am in the process of making a new panel for our curved corner bath. I spent some time working out the angles and curves, marking up and making a top and bottom frame which will be connected together with uprights, to which will be glued and pinned "bendy mdf", the whole thing will then be...

is this as good a deal as it looks ?

Paul, The raised panel cutter is 89mm in diameter which is quite big, over 3.5 inches. Make sure your router and table have a large enough opening to take a bit that size. Martin.

    Oak for a bed headboard - £235.00 inc. VAT + £80.00 delivery

I have had a response from the other timber supplier I sent my original list to as follows: "The timber in your list, planed to size, would cost £250.00 in Oak or £182.00 in Ash, delivery if required would be £34.50" This is based on the original list of exact sizes in my first post and it is...

    Oak for a bed headboard - £235.00 inc. VAT + £80.00 delivery

JasonB I like your suggestion of grouping parts from similar thickness stock (thanks for taking the time to specifically detail the stock required for my project). I would like to stick to the original finished sizes. I have to admit that I made an error on the original list, there are only 2...

    Oak for a bed headboard - £235.00 inc. VAT + £80.00 delivery

First of all, a big thankyou to all the forum members who have replied so quickly. Mike, Langdon Hills is south Essex near Basildon, but within striking distance of Thorogoods so may well pay them a visit. The first quote was for "boards only" they quoted PAR but this was £299 plus. Big soft...

Anyone used the Work Sharp tool sharpener yet

Andy, Thanks for the update, look forward to the full review, but may well be tempted to invest in one (unless you know someone who has a spare, little used one, they don't want?). Regards - Martin.

Anyone used the Work Sharp tool sharpener yet

Andy, Thanks for the swift reply. Have you tried sharpening turning tools yet, underneath the segmented disk. It looks really good for normal chisels/plane irons etc as there appears to be a solid guide, but how easy is it to hold a roughing gouge or even finger profile spindle gouge under the...

    Dads retirement present

Welcome, In my opinion the first thing to do is sign your Dad up for a turning course. I don't know where your Dad lives but Stiles and Bates in Kent and Peter Child in Essex are both very good, I learnt from Chris Child (Peters son) and have not looked back. Both these companies can offer sound...

Congrats to Brimarc for good service and Jet for value

All, I have a Festool CMS with sliding table which is really good but could do with a clamp to hold work to the table whilst crosscutting. At the Axminster catalogue launch on Saturday I noticed a Jet JTS-250 CS Super Saw which appeared to have just the sort of clamp I wanted and looked as if it...

    Machines in Machine shops (rant)

Hi Wizer, If you feel inclined perhaps you could call the store, ask to speak to the Manger (I think his name is Mike, the email is on my other PC which is at home so I cant be exact) and explain your disappointment with the machine set ups. He seems to want to do the right thing, if there is a...

    Machines in Machine shops (rant)

Further to my earlier post about the problem I had with Axminsters Sittingbourne store, in fairness I did not mention that this was some time ago. The current manager of the store has contacted me to let me know it is under his (new) management (since last summer) and he has suggested I attend...
