    SIP 10" x 6" Planer Thicknesser set-up - help pl

Roger I'd send it back. Its meant to be a tool not a kit. If the adjustments provided don't do the biz then its faulty IMO Cheers Tim

Dear Marge - where can I go to avoid the World Cup?

Avoid the World Cup in Brazil? Good thinking Roger! Its funny - I absolutely hate football and couldn't be more bored by people discussing it if I tried. However for me, the World Cup is a totally different matter - don't really mind who is playing (and couldn't care less about...

    Suitable timber for picture frames

Martin A lot of merchants are now making it very clear that sapwood is not a defect so you can also end up with boards which have lots of yellow sapwood that you have paid for but will either have to stain or discard. Cheers Tim

    Oak sideboard/cabinet

Matthew Looks very nice indeed. Can't quite work out from the photos whether the grooves are parallel or diverge and converge. Also, do those joints esp on the feet have a weakness inherent in their design with little continuous long grain? I have used a variety of flap hinges inc these ones...

    Toy box with a difference?

I think Adam's hit the nail on the head. You can't exploit the 'bespoke' factor if its not bespoke to the customer. So essentially to get a decent price for this I had to be lucky that on the day at least two parties had to have the same interest and wallet depth. It did essentially sell...

    Toy box with a difference?

Well it raised £750. If I'm honest I'm a little disappointed esp when I analyse the time/ materials taken. I normally don't make things on spec so its a bit of a rude shock but its done some good and I enjoyed making and donating it. The ball raised 60 grand in the end - I'm still a bit...

    Trevtheturner

Its with very great sadness that I have to let you know that Trevtheturner died in the early hours of Thursday morning. He wouldn't want me to go into any great detail but he had been diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas earlier in the week. As his wife, Lesleysaid to me this morning, it is...

    Friday SketchUp Tips (FSUT)

I know its not Friday and I'm also about to disappear until Sunday night but I have a real prob in SU that I can't seem to improve. I find it very difficult to move objects to where I want them! If I try to move them manually then the object often moves on an axis I don't want it to or moves...

    Toy box with a difference?

Thanks guys. I'm really nervous about what it will get - not fishing for compliments but just natural I suppose - a pretty public way of determining if your stuff is worth anything! All I do know is that I have already had a private bid (that exceeds my reserve) so its definitely sold and...

    Toy box with a difference?

I've been meaning to make this for sometime but have never got around to it. Its essentially a toychest that has a large drawer instead of a lifting lid. I've always thought that lifting lids are a bad idea in that they come crashing down and that you have to clear anything from the top to...

    Planning cutting lengths

The other factor is that Travis Perkins went on a massive purchasing spree buying lots of independent builders merchants which had a good service ethic. I believe that they operate a semi franchise system rather than just post people wherever. The only good general timber yard in Hereford was...

    Planning cutting lengths

Roger Cutlist will do dimensioned lumber (using their descriptor). Add the dimension of a skirting board in the raw materials ie all the common ones from the timber merchant and its a doddle. I use it all the time for that door stiles/ rails etc. Cheers Tim

    WE project: Steps

That looks really good. Safety's not normally my bag but it looks to me like they could be really treacherous with a bit of splashed water on. Cheers Tim
