    Belt sander recommendations

Well, Joel, I hear you've come in to some money very recently... Why skimp along with the Skil when you could easily afford a Festool?! (Congratulations, by the way. :-))

    Lean green jigsaw machine.

No, come on, be honest; you just wanted it to match your new vacuum, didn't you!! :D  Or, you could just cut it outside, on a Workmate!

    Planer thicknesser throwing a blade

Relieved to hear you weren't harmed in any way - what a terrifying ordeal!! I've often feared such an incident could occur one day (hence, why I check the bolts four or five times...) but, this is the first time I've heard of it actually happening. I hate to ask but, I don't...

    Is this Greenhart?

If it is greenheart then, please, take every precaution when you are working it - the dust is lethal and could kill you (it causes cardiovascular problems). ...Otherwise, I look forward to seeing the WIP, one day. :)

Replacing or upgrading a table saw: advice please

I used to own a £200 table saw with an aluminium top... It wasn't flat and, with the lack of weight, whenever you were working with anything 3ft or longer, it was too easy to tip the machine on to its back legs! :P You should be very happy with that purchase - make sure we have plenty of photos...

    Domino limitations

I'm sure Steve made a jig a few years ago for working with narrow and small stock as well...?

    Edge planing with a P/T

A slight gap in the centre of a join between two boards is actually considered a good thing, provided it's no more than, say, 0.5mm. To straighten a convex edge on a planer though, is actually quite tricky to do, without creating a slight taper across the width of the board. I reckon you'd be...

    Tool Sharpener Advice

Or, you could make your own from 12mm MDF - wax it on both sides so the PSA doesn't stick. 8)

Replacing or upgrading a table saw: advice please

One of the joys in owning the Axminster TS200 (particularly if you're working in a small garage) is that, unlike your other two suggestions, it has a quiet, induction motor. Of course, it'll still make a bit of noise when it's cutting but, it would keep your neighbours happy. :) I think some...

    Rutlands Cabinet Makers Beech Workbench

While the legs look a bit 'spindly', the addition and fixing of the drawer and storage units could help to beef up the frame a bit - I've seen a very similar looking one in the flesh (identical, but without the lower units) and it didn't take much to sway it from left to right! If you...

    Domino limitations

The problem with beech is that, despite being hard to the touch, it's a non-durable species. Hence, why Festool produce the "Sipo" dominoes. :) Or, you could machine your own dominoes from European oak or similar...

    ARNO Carbur2 Burnisher Passaround

Just a brief update to say that the goods are now on their way to Karl (sorry for the delay). :)

    Tool Sharpener Advice

Yes, as Rob says, I am an advocate of the Work Sharp 3000. Personally, I wouldn't bother looking at the smaller 2000 model though as, after realising what it could do, you'd probably wish you'd bought the more versatile 3000 model! It's an excellent piece of kit for getting a super...

    pine kitchen units

Nicely done and, if you can work within such time-restraints , you surely won't go far wrong in this business!

    Alan Peters (style) Media Unit...finished

Well, these things always look better when they're made out of real wood, like oak. Very well done, Rob. Like you, I also struggle to make a decision with handles (I think you've done fine, here) but I also find shelf lug holes quite challenging... The trick is in giving a piece that...

    ARNO Carbur2 Burnisher Passaround

Thanks to Chems, I received this burnisher a couple of days ago and I had a chance to play with it for an hour or so yesterday. It is very impressive and, just as Matthew shows in the video, it's certainly capable of forming a hook much faster than a traditional carbide burnisher. I'm not...

    The Fes fetish

Yes, thanks, Chris - it's been a real bargain! 8) I still use it with the old 9.6v batteries I had and I haven't yet taken it apart properly to service it but, it's better than all my other drivers and it'll happily drive a 2in screw home without even a clearance hole. :) So, George, have you...

    The Fes fetish

On the subject of systainers, Bosch and Metabo (possibly other too - Lamello?) introduced their own systainers some time ago - are they all interchangable (stackable) with one another? I'd assume that's the point Chippy was trying to make...

    Thicknesser crowning timber

If your thicknessing bed is dished or slightly hollow, one temporary fix would be to use a false auxiliary bed. Something 18mm thick (ply or MDF) with a hook on one end (so it can't be pulled through the machine) should be fine. To the underside, you could add a thin strip so that it doesn't get...

Corian for a router table top?

If you do decide on an MDF/laminate combination then I may have enough Formica left over from when I did my little table a couple of years ago. I'll have to check the dimensions of what I've got left but, I'd be willing to part with it for a small fee. Otherwise, in Bristol, you can buy...
