John, Thanks for taking the time to post the pictures. :D I have yet to try turning anything but wood. The black stripe in the white sections makes me think of licorice all sorts. 8-[ :whistle:

Roger, My home made cyclone dust collector vents via two large filters in the roof space of the shop. In the winter when the wood burner is going, running the dust collector, IMHO does make it feel warmer in the shop. If I am not making dust that needs collecting I run it for a few minutes...

I have used the spray lube that is sold for router cutters on my mortice machine to good effect. :)

Neil, That is a magic looking bit of kit, you cannot beat a large lump of cast iron for stability. :D Sorry no idea what oil you should use but your suggestion sounds about right. :-k

Have a look at old mouse mats? Some of the older ones have quite a nice rubber mat as the base, two or three layers stuck together might work? :-k

I saw Vikki live a few years ago what a singer, she had a great band with Clive Bunker (ex Tull) on drums, it was a really good set. 8) :D
