Phil Pascoe is right. Teak is incredibly expensive and if you make just one mistake..... You need to make it from cls for a start, so that you can practice on a much cheaper alternative. Google cls wood to find out more. Take this as good advice PLEASE!

Titan do a variety of vacuums of different size, seen regularly on worksites (110v) but also 240v, so there must be something good about them. These are seen regularly on an auction search site that I use, along with a Bosch M class vacuum. HTH.

Why don't you get a strip of 1mm thick metal, say 30mm wide and fit it to the guard to make the guard 30mm wider? The easiest thing to do.
