    An exercise in colouring/masking!

Thanks Jen and Gordon, no problemo if you like it or not it was never really meant to be a completed piece as such more an experiment for my own benefit in learning how to use my airbrush. It won`t be a piece I would do again but I could see maybe an ash platter benefiting from a bit of masked...

    An exercise in colouring/masking!

Hi guys I made this purely to see how to mask for colouring and to try out my new airbrush. I stood it on an Ash base to spray it and then thought "mm I quite like the look of them together" ;) but not sure if the base will stay or I might ebonise it to match??. I make no apologies to the...

    Excellent service from Sorby!!

Yes I agree Colin. I`m as guilty as the next at shouting and balling when receiving bad service but I do try and be just as vocal when receiving good service. I would now happily buy again any Sorby gear knowing the service I`d receive. No I don`t work for em :D Steve

    Excellent service from Sorby!!

Hi all My Proedge grinder started needing a little flick each time I turned it on and thinking it needed a new capacitor I rang Sorby on saturday and spoke to a very helpful guy (Paul) who sent me a complete new motor assembly which arrived today, first class service!! Steve

    Strong enough visor?

Hi all After getting clouted in the face with a 2.5 pound piece of wood flying off the lathe and not wanting to repeat the experience I am now feeling super cautious about turning and wondering what if anything is on the market to protect the individual (ie me) from such a missile in the...

    Sprayed Ash bowl!

Thanks Ian yes it was masked using 3mm tape . Cheers Allen . I tend to just use goggles and paper mask for turning then put my Powercap on for finishing/sanding think I'll use the full face one a the time now. A couple of inches lower I'd be pricing up dentures now ;-( just glad I had me...

    Tulipwood bowl!

Hi all Had a go with a piece of Tulipwood today that I was going to pierce after turning it but decided against it after waxing it and bringing out the grain. Tulipwood tends to be a quite bland wood sometimes but I have had a few nice blanks of it lately. This is 8" diam 4" high and finished in...
