Don't modern gas cookers have flame failure devices that turn off the gas if it's there's no flame? I'm sure ours does.
Out house in the UK, built 14 years ago had no permanent ventilation in the kitchen for that gas cooker.
I didn't feel a thing in Christchurch.

Same here - a white tail bit caused my lower left leg to swell, leak and get me 3 weeks off sick, 9 nights in hospital and a 2" scar on my leg after they chopped out the dead flesh. And I couldn't swim for nearly 3 months.
I'd repost that question on the turning forum, but it's much better than no lathe :)
Seriously, it's a good lathe and more than many would want or need.
A colleague has one of those Samsung with a writing thingy that she really likes and uses the handwriting recognition.
