Modern joinery v Old school joinery

Don't get me wrong i use modern joinery all the time but i think trad joinery will always last longer and make a quality piece .

    Festool Domino

True but then would you not agree that modern stuff with modern jointing methods is actually not as good as trad stuff ? Maybe this is another thread we should start rather than lose the point of this one .

On a serious note if you want to be doing that Dom then i don't think any false tenons or the like will be what your customers are after . Not if you want to be building real classy stuff like we all would like to do . One offs at a good price then yes shortcuts with the latest jointing methods...

    Name that price

Hi Con , Sorry when i said seal the ends i mean sealing the edges . I would think you would still need to do this on any MDF . The shelves have a battern running around the front and sides (not the back to allow for the electrics) I then screwed through the sides of the unit to fix the shelves...

Ahhhh it runs against the fence ? I was wondering how it worked .

I don't think it matters how much space you have . If you cant use the area because of a job then that job gets billed for it .

    Spindle moulder sliding carrage

    Name that price

Your right its not perfect but then i was given very short notice and it HAS to go out finished today . Even at four days it would put the price at £800 plus materials at £170 plus the sparkie at £120 . I would really like another day on it to get it perfect but its going in 2 hours and needs to...

    Name that price

£1000 plus vat was the closest to be picky  The job was actually a "we need help just do it" job . I quoted around £400 for the unit but the rest has bumped the price up . Thats £400 because i've done alot of work for them in the past and have loads more to do .

    Name that price

Jason B was as close as it gets . Actually building the unit was cheap but the rest has bumped the price up as i cant use the workshop while i have wet paint on the go . Ive just had a wicked thought ....... wouldn't it be funny to have these as workshop storage

    Name that price

Because it's going to an exhibition in London olympia and i don't want to burn the place down  Seriously , too many people walking around for the electrics not to be done by a pro and a test sticker on it .
  16. J

    Name that price

 One after every dusting of course . Made from MDF , i sealed the ends with watered down PVA . It's a trick i've been using for years . Ok Dom told me that the other day
  17. J

    Name that price

Now i'm going to call you cheap  It took me two days to spray it and the sparkie charged £120 .
  18. J

    Name that price

As Dom keeps calling me cheap ( aswell as waking me up all the time ) i wondered what price tag the forum would put on this unit ? It has been spray finished and electrically tested .
