Just tried the T11 on some oak for a thick oak mirror I'm making - scarily powerful compared to the old 1/4 inch router I was using!!!!

    Considering a new Router....

I had a few issues with the Triton TRA001 and the collet when I first bought it - a nightmare to get the bits in and out. I opened it up a bit by hitting a punch into it - nice and technical, and since then had no more problems. That's mainly been when it's been in the table, as I haven't...

    MAC Timbers Open Day

I was there but you were on a break when I was in the village hall, I think. I picked up some oak, ash and sweet chestnut - and my wife bought a door wedge from the nice lady next to your stand!! Sorry I missed you, are you at the next one in November?

    Impulse buy at Axminster

Just seen the announcement on the Axminster website for the planned opening of the High Wycombe branch - should make things a bit easier from now on for traveling. Although we still are considering moving back to Somerset once the housing market levels out - my wife's reasons are "family"...

    Rats

We live in the country with fields on all sides, we have about 1 1/3 acres of garden which has a low ditch running all of the way around the land. We have a chicken coop and about nine (rescued battery) hens living in the orchard, and, unsurprising for where we are I suppose, we have rats...

    Impulse buy at Axminster

I already have the Triton TRA001 which I use in my Triton router table, the T11 is for hand use and I was planning to get the trend dovetail jig next (as I have £100 of Axminster vouchers burning a hole in my pocket) but can't find it on their website.

The only good thing is I stopped at one item - nearly came home with a lathe and an LN plane but common sense kicked in!!

    Impulse buy at Axminster

whilst passing through Kent I made a quick diversion and headed for Axminster PT. I just bought a Trend T11 on impulse and now I've got a 2 hr journey home before I can use it!! Apparently they're opening a trade counter branch in High Wycombe although the staff didn't know when.

Are Veritas planes usable straight out of the box?

Are Veritas planes usable straight out of the box? I've heard LN one's are, but not sure if Veritas are the same. I'm thinking of spoiling myself with a new purchase for the workshop.
