Wood identification help - antique stool

Pitch pine crossed my mind but it's very heavy. Traditionally they were oak or elm so pitch pine but be unusual - but not impossible. Anyone else can help with ID?

Wood identification help - antique stool

It's not a milking stool as they traditionally have three legs. It's a west country stool. I suppose it depends where you're selling, but 19th c milking stools tend to go for over 100 - unless. of course, you're buying and selling on Ebay.

Wood identification help - antique stool

Well, it's an late 18th century/early 19th century pile of junk then - about £150-£200. No accounting for taste!! Not everything has to be made from MDF, Brad :D

Thanks - I've had a kind invite from JPT for a lesson but I don't get chance to use the lathe. I did have a couple of lessons at the start but as my workshop is going into mothballs when we sell, I'm going to sell a few pieces off. Tried woodturning, but not for me really. I'm...

For Sale - AWVSL1000 Axminster Lathe - NOW SOLD

I'm selling my lathe the AWVSL1000 - I bought it new from Axminster last October and I've used it a grand total of four times - didn't really get into turning and probably won't get round to learning how to stop the chisel flying out of my hand and flying across the 'shop.. Very good condition...

    Virus protection on Applemac?

As per my PM in answer to yours, you often never know how they get there - take it from me I know more than a little bit about this subject, never run illegal software, but still fell foul. The presence of Mac AV software for sale out there demonstrates there is a problem, just nowhere near the...

    Virus protection on Applemac?

I have an iMac and a macbook. I ran AV software the other day - for the first time in two years, and it found three trojan viruses. Nothing is 100% safe.

    Landrover owners - advice

Should have said - really looking at a Defender. I think the disco might be a bit big. We only want to have the baby seat in when I really have to take our daughter out and about - we mainly use my wife's car for that. We;re out in the sticks here and I'm always frustrated that I can't...

    Landrover owners - advice

I'm fed up of not being able to get wood/antiques/bits and pieces in my car so I'm looking to sell and get a Landrover. It has to have a back seat as we need to get the baby seat in so I need to go for the 110. I'm going to sell my car - and I HATE the carry on of selling cars - ideally I'd...

It's been a tough week in our house

How prophetic my comment above was - my wife came down this morning to find our cat, Inky, had died in the night. We've had him for nearly four years and he came to live with us after my mum died - he'd been with her eleven years. My 7 month old daughter loved playing with him thinking he was...

how do you like them apples.

We have more apples than we can cope with in our orchard at the moment - and plenty of fallers from todays winds. We've been selling some from a stall at the front of the cottage, but even then, a lot get wasted. Nice to have the option though, I suppose.
