I guess with some tradespeople it's like having to see a surgeon. You have to but you don't really want to, there's going to be at least some pain and you'll be scarred for life, possibly better, possibly dead.

Bloody hell Jacob, you could have something there. My fault, because I only explained that I wanted a flat roof but hadn't made it clear that it needed to keep the rain out. Yep, what a fool I've been

Yes but places like, I don't know, say The Cotswolds, are big places. Oh, and London as well.

Isn't this why so many of us are so called DIY'ers? I still have to get trades in from time to time with the big jobs and things I am not allowed to do, gas for example. But I have to grit my teeth almost on every occasion. Especially where I can't do a job on my own, not because I don't know...

    disappearing posts.

All OK for me so far. Mind you, if I ever have to create a long post, email or the like, I will always do it in Word first then copy/paste into a forum or attachment in an email. I used to advise all my patients to do this as they would often complain of the pain in losing a long email as they...

Kitchen door repainting advice / recommendation sought

It sounds like the topcoat has never properly bonded with the primer/undercoat. Astonishing that it is still soft after 10 years! My gut reaction would be to remove one smaller door and strip it back. See how that goes, then if OK just strip and repaint them. Just too dodgy to paint over an...

They only supply products for domestic and private use, but hey, if you want to use it in an educational environments, that's up to you. By the way, did you know it has an electromechanical braking system, making it ideal for use in educational environments? Not that that is what they would...

I had a similar problem and the advice that I received was that unless the original warranty states that it is transferrable then the contract is with the original purchaser only. My situation was a secondhand food mixer that I bought . There were 15 months of the original 5 year warranty left...

    Hanging new gates

Well, if that was round our way, the South East, I would certainly raise an eyebrow at £480 + VAT. Mind you, fixings & fittings as described are going to be approaching £100. But then again, it would probably be a 2 man job and yes, half a day to do it seems fair, but what are they going to do...

    Home Insurance - Outbuildings

Brandlin summed it up I think. And the clue is in the phrase "standard insurance". 1000's of pounds of tools in a workshop is not standard.
