    Getting a skip taken away

Over the years I have had many, many skips and never had a problem. Indeed, if there was any problem it was that the skip company were phoning up asking when they could have their skip back! But now I have a problem. I have had a skip on my driveway now for 5 weeks. It was finished with 3 weeks...

    Workshop fire

Don't get excited, I want to prevent one. I have Googled and find that there are many extinguishers for many types of fire, 5/6 I believe. Now, if I did discover a fire in my workshop, rather than conduct an analytical investigation to determine what type of fire it is and which extinguisher I...

    NEC 5th and 6th May 2018

I've got to come a fair distance for this. I had a look at the website, and it doesn't appear to be a big show from that. Is it worth a 3 hour trip?

Can anyone identify this hinge jig please?

I bought this about 10 years ago, and from memory I got it from Rutlands, but can't be sure. Does anyone know the make and/or where I can get another one? Cheers

Have I left any varnish behind?

Thanks Andy & Phil. Looks like I might have taken the varnish off then. Just how long should it take for the water based varnish to dry before it can be sanded? It's been at least 12 hours in 18+ degrees. Yes, I did use a power sander, very delicately if that's possible. I tried my Abranet but...

Have I left any varnish behind?

I'm using Polyvine water based varnish with a wax finish and am very pleased with it on the door frames. However, I am now varnishing the veneered door panels and I cannot get the brush marks out. So first coat, then 300 grit, another coat another 300 grit and then a third coat and a 300 grit...

Specific Table Saw Advice (I know, I know).

My tuppence worth. I have a table saw which is great but I found that the 8x4 sheets were the proverbial PITA. That's when I bought a plunge saw and never looked back. I've never had a problem with accuracy. And I have never split open my finger nor broken my thumb on the plunge saw :oops...

    Mitre Saw from Screwfix

That's a 110v connector by the looks. You will need a transformer, about £50. EDIT **** Oh s**t, I hang my head is shame when I saw Matthews reply. Thank God he replied  Life is for learning

    Nitro-Mors... more like No-Mores!

I gave up a long time ago with the Nitromors stuff. The last time I stripped paint I used a product called Peelaway. Excellent stuff I found.

    oh dear

I actually went into a shop that "specialised" in this sort of stuff and met the bloke that did it all. I don't think that he was very well :|

    When to change sandpaper?

Whilst in the process of sanding acres of veneered boards, I was trying to think of things in general, to ensure that the monotony of sanding didn't send me brain dead. And I came up with this :D Is there an optimum time to ditch a piece of sandpaper and carry on with a new bit? I've...

    Brummer stopping filler going hard?

I was just Googling drying time for Brummer and this thread appeared. I did not know that you could resurrect a tine of Brummer by heating it up! Now I do, excellent!
