    Long distance footpaths

DW that's very kind of you to offer, but we have already booked all our accommodation for a few weeks now. I only b&b, travel light no tents etc. Requires quite a bit of tactical planning to put together as there are three of us this time. This stretch not unsurprisingly has turned out to be...

    Long distance footpaths

Rob we absolutey loved exmoor ..me and the missus that is... we used to sit and watch the sunset at dunkery beacon in september before going to the pub. One of the underrated bits of the UK Roger the dales way was recommended to me by a guy on the cumbria way as a nice break in for me and the...

    Coffee on a Campsite

What about those ..I think they are turkish...coffee pots that you put directly on heat, I've seen them in my tea/coffee shop. Mind you I've always thought it's going to be a strong cup :-) but beggars and choosers? or just a simple filter holder that sits on the cup and you pour water at 87...

    Long distance footpaths

Hi Anyone else here do long distance walking? I am off in October to do the 3rd leg of the South west coast path St Mawes (Falmouth) to Exemouth. 4th leg May next year. Other walks Pennine way , alternative coast to coast, Cumbria way. It would seem I am just playing at it compared to my...

    Top quality Engineer's Square

Is it possibly how the starrett became inaccurate through lots of use and needed replacing? :-) Alan

    Fitting a downstatirs toilet

I haven't had a "pro" in to do anything yet. I have however had lots of sound advice and done lots of research and these are the key things. Having someone to fall back on to bounce ideas off always helps the confidence. Your problem, I would be very wary of interfering with a cast stack, but...

    Top quality Engineer's Square

Paul I have had the same and opposite experience. My Starret combo is as accurate as could be wanted certainly as accurate as the axminster engineers square but more importantly it's easier to use being a bit lighter. I have a rabone combo which was slightly out but like anything else it was...

How to deal with a "wonky" floor

It is possible it's a floating chipboard floor over concrete hence no fixings. if they didn't let the floor dry enough and layed it poorly that would explain the movement. Mid 80's ought to have insulation/polystyrene under the concrete but I am not sure of the timeline re building regs...

    Camera problem

Ok If you have accepted that it's faulty then there's nothing to lose. Grasp fimly in the hand and give it a rap on a worktop hard enough to jolt it, but obviously not hard enough to break it, but we are talking a fair rap. It was a common with mobile phones a while back lcd's went gobbledegook...

Tablesaw V Bandsaw - ding ding, round 300!

If you have the sliding table then that is the way to go, crosscutting is usually done to the left of the blade mitre or not (unless you're talking long mitres on a panel which are fairly rare) . Like Mike C says You can always take the sliding table off to store. Lets put a scenario for your...

Tablesaw V Bandsaw - ding ding, round 300!

You will certainly need good a good area to move around in, but no, in my experience of using one on my previous saw as long as support is added to the left side(roller stands) you can set up your panel on the sled and raise the sled and panel together and settle into position well away from the...

Tablesaw V Bandsaw - ding ding, round 300!

:D Mostly No I don't think that's what I am saying, If I understand what you've said, I haven't explained myself properly. You DO NOT use the fence and mitre in combo unless a false short fence is attached before the blade simply to allow for crosscut consistent cuts (eg shoulders of tenons with...

Tablesaw V Bandsaw - ding ding, round 300!

IMHO no, it's kind of the point I was trying to make about what the saw is going to do for you. You will not be able to cut panels of any size with an EB3 which means you'll have to cut to the right of the blade so you will have to have long rails therefore more space taken, or you keep the...

    saw table from handheld

Black and decker used to do a conversion plate to take a saw, for use in their workmate, it replace one of the halves of the top. Don't like the idea although it did have guards and your saw should have come with a riving knife. Alan

Tablesaw V Bandsaw - ding ding, round 300!

Byron Trying to sort out all your points and refer to each one is tough, I don't have the attention span :-) I am kind of reading between the lines to make my best guess as to what might suit you. If you have both Tsaw and bandsaw you will lose space. Bsaw is king of resaw for what you want...

Routers - Big Triton versus Little Triton.

I have the large version and as said for in the table it's brilliant. However a colleague of mine has bought the small one and if you want flexibility and handheld I would certainly consider it. He bought it for kitchen worktops, his own, not trade and has done some test cuts which worked...

    H.I.P.S.

I for one am rather tired of so called professionals (please don't let the pro's here be insulted) jumping on the bleed us dry bandwagon, through petty rules and regulations created for no good reason. If I want to buy a house with dodgy wiring and plumbing and windows that don't meet FENSA it...

using red and black cable for a renovation addition circuit

I guess it must just be me but I don't see the difference here because that's what the BCO will do, sign off what a sparky won't probably with less qualifications. makes no sense to me at the end of the day but the advice must always be do it the right way.
