    MDF screws and glue.....

i am a big fan of the Reisser Screws and work well on both solid and board materials. No piloting needed and more importantly hard ever cause splitting. Don't think there is much between Reisser and Spax myself but as Reisser are cheaper I go for those ( I use a lot!!!!). Kev

Wooden seat top to a brick built seat, advise required pls?

Have made something slightly similar before for a swimming pool which had a raised brick wall around the outside of it. From memory we used Balau which is good for external use (think they use it for external decking). Pig to work with though but did look nice when finished. For that they...

Bandsaw blade adjustment on narrow blades

Hi all, I have a Jet JWBS-16 bandsaw which I use regularly but mainly for straight cuts, ripping etc so nearly always has a 19mm blade in it. However have a project which requires curved work so replaced blade for a 6mm blade. Blade changed no problem and tensioned fine. Tracked the blade to...

    Electric supply to garage

They are similar lights to mine and are very good as the cover diffuses the light and makes it easier to keep dust free. My workshop is about 7m x 5m with a high ceiling so have two double lights along the top and then five singles along three sides on the wall. I would think what you are...

    Electric supply to garage

Had a similar issue when I did my workshop a few years back. FWIW I had a consumer unit added in the workshop itself (same as you, lighting circuit, sockets and a few 16amp sockets for different machines). Mine was then wired back to the main circuit board in the house with suitable ampage (is...

New sliding mitre saw... where to put it!!

Have mine on a mobile station that I can pull out when needed and put back when not in use. Rather than folding arms I just use mine with adjustable roller supports. Find these work well. Kev

    Sash window weight pockets.

Thanks Guys. Did them yesterday. Ended up doing them to one side for the simple reason that as these are new windows I am using plastic parting beads which sit in a plastic channel (improved draught protection) which may have caused problems (if ever need to get to the pockets) if I had cut them...

    Sash window weight pockets.

Hi All Currently making new box frame windows for my house and had a question about cutting the pockets. When cutting out of the pulley stile do you make the vertical cut up the middle of the parting bead groove or to one side. Cant work out if there is a correct way here or if it even matters...

New to the hobby, is this normal?

Just to echo others always try and go and select it your self, or at least speak to them and explain that you need some decent stuff. Had a similar issue a week or so ago, had a load of kiln dried oak delivered for a job which had to come from head depot so couldn't see it. Had specified prior...

    Spindle regs

Hi all, Just fitting a couple of stair cases as a favour for someone and trying to get my head round spindle spacings. As I understand it you should not be able to push a 100 mm sphere though the gap. So maximum gap 99mm, is that correct. If you have a turned spindle does this mean that you...

    best router for router table

Also needing a new router for my router table. Using a flex router at the moment which is a great router, IMHO, for hand use but not so versatile in a table. As I have a routalift and having read this thread would you agree that the Triton may be better than the Trend as don't need the above...
