    Workshop lighting problem

Hi jpt, ..a duff switch? It'd be cheap & easy to replace so you'll not really lose out if it's not it.

    quality planes

Those 2 look like real beauties ! ..the first one is like what RichardT makes (I was very impressed by those). Would I have to delve deep into plane history to sort the good from the bad & the ugly befoe going to boot sales?. ..It'd be a give away to the seller if I got out my BS939 set...

Rojek switchgear and the current heatwave.

Hello Sawyer, It does sound like a temperature issue (as motor overloads need to be manually reset usually)..but I can't see our summers being an issue.[but now I see you are in France ] The motor might have an integral over temp cut out switch..this may or not be reading the correct...

    spares

or try someone like RS Components or similar..or google the manufacturer of the switch /button (telemeqanique ??.. if a top quality one) & find a local distributor... Some switches come in several parts & so you may be lucky & just buy the part that's failed instead of the whole switch assembly...

Chisels & chiselling - questions, questions

This was brought up before.. can you expand on what the difference in use is please DTR.. I (think I) get that one blade is made bevel edged & one is cut to have a beveled edge..but how does it matter?.. & how can you tell which is which?

Chisels & chiselling - questions, questions

You've got both then..howcome? Cheapo ones for rougher work where you might nick them (more carpentry work perhaps) & posh ones for what - more delicate work ?? Could you do without your posh ones or vise versa? Like I've said prevoiusly - I've found a new reverence for what I'm doing & the job...

Chisels & chiselling - questions, questions

Jacob - you take me too literally on the surgical sharpness comment.. sharpening a blade "so that no light can fall on the edge" is surgically sharp to me but probably a very long way off from being so. Are you saying that you believe there's little or no difference in the quality between the...

Chisels & chiselling - questions, questions

Ha ha.. why did I ever think you'd just have one of those plastic framed diamond stones from Machine Mart ??! My ceramics can be oiled, wetted or dry.. I used them dry. http://www.axminster.co.uk/spyderco-spy ... prod20440/ ...I had more money than sense that day I bought 'em... that's not...

Do you 'sign' your work? If so how?

I like the cryptic- nous(?) of it.. like a hallmark. You say 'add' but they looked carved. My skills are not up to that just yet.

Chisels & chiselling - questions, questions

Can you learned Gents advise me on your prefered choice of sharpening medium please? .. more to do with honing. RichardT: you've mentioned a diamond 'stone', is this your only medium you use now? The reason I ask is because I spent a small fortune on some ceramic stones ones which clog up...

Do you 'sign' your work? If so how?

Wow - nice stamps/disc .. I like them very much...stamped in the end grain of course.. I knew that *cough* . I'll try pyrography (if Lidl are still doing that cheapo set) until I can come up with a design for a stamp & my overall work quality improves. Thanks Gents !
