..wow.. I am deeply impressed.. it looks both immaculate & stylish. Where & how does the loose leaf live when not needed? Are you not worried about that one staying fresh looking while the top ages or do you use some supder duper finish ? How do you get the top so flat & perfect?? I'm scared to...

Hello Gents, I scored a van load of old school science lab bench tops a while back & have now got round to making something from them but late in the day worked out that they are probably teak.. I've only worked with teak once before & that was 20 years ago & have a few questions. I am making a...

    DEAD SCHEPPACHE TKU 4000 MOTOR

..the tingling is probably static that's not discharging.. you are running the motor on a bench & you've not thought to earth it too - that's a worry. I'd take CHJ's advise a leave it alone.

    Dead Jet thicknesser

Possible causes: 1) No power to machine or lost neutral 2) Dust in NVR etc 3) Loose/damaged wire/s, 4) worn brushes 5) faulty capacitor 6) safety switch activated/broken 7) faulty motor & or other component ..you need to check cap & test if power is getting to the motor/brushes to start...

    NEEDED - 220v motor

Houtslager (are you Dutch/Afrikaans?) I'm not sure it's that simple.. you'll need to match the torque too (I think).. & that is down to number of poles.. which I believe goes like; the more poles then the higher the torque...but don't quote me on that. Togs

    DEAD SCHEPPACHE TKU 4000 MOTOR

I take it you have checked the plug is all ok inside(??) & that other machines work on that socket too. Some motors have internal over-heat switches as well as over amperage switches.. and most posts on here are to do with machines being too dusty & overheating & might work again once cooled...

Good Lord...thanks Benchwayze.. I had no idea that was nearby. Splendid - I'll call them tomorrow. I've found a few websites to be wishful thinking from the suppliers I've contacted lately. I can recommend the very nice Gents at Ragley Saw Mill for green Oak & Larch. Togs

    What wood for bookcases

Hello Nicknoxx, Just the thought of all that painting (primer, flatten, 1st coat, flatten, 2nd coat... & in all those corners) only to have it on MDF that would very easily chip, dent, scuff & blow would make me go to IKEA & go on a Saturday ! If it was my choice I'd go for Larch as it's...

Lock for cabinet with double doors.

Hello Shopkeeper, If your son is so easily put of then a budget set could be: 1 or 2 of these: http://www.diy.com/nav/build/doors-wind ... Id=9671578 & 1 of these: http://www.diy.com/nav/build/doors-wind ... Id=9671394 ...with a drill bit to make the key hole. If that's not enough then...
