Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

Simply call them up and ask to speak to the buying department for homewares. Eventually you'll get through to someone who will talk you through the process and if you're lucky will post you one of their compliance packs. That's a big volume detailing what they expect from you as a supplier and...

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

If a gallery sells it, first remove the VAT they have to charge > £145 then they'll probably expect to make a big margin because of low volumes, so they'll expect to pay around £80 or so and possibly expect sale or return too. You need to do the sums. The market exists for them. Just walk...

Taking my business forward. How and do I need to rethink?

16 weeks is very likely to be too short a time to develop a business fast enough to provide a living, especially in Jan/Feb/Mar. Don't let yourself be bankrupted by failing to take action to get a proper sustainable income now. Be wary of people and friends being kind and not giving completely...

    Spell checker

Just remember that correct spelling is only part of writing correctly, using the right words and proper punctuation is also important. Always proof read before hitting 'submit'.

    P/T Spiral Cutter Block

I'm sure I recently had an email from Axi mentioning a demonstration of the spiral block PT in store at High Wycombe. OK a long way from you, but it might be worth a call to see if there any demonstration machines in their system closer.

    carbide forstner bits

Bare in mind that those won't drill a completely flat bottomed hole. They still have a spur in the centre and the edge cutters will leave a recessed ring on the outside.

    Easy money

and many people would describe as antique. Anyone old enough to remember Barry Bucknell ? The TV DIY 'expert' who went round removing Victorian/Edwardian features that were 'old fashioned junk'. Covering panelled doors with hardboard to make them modern, ripping out cast iron fireplaces...

    Easy money

But there's an even better example from that seller http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handpainted-A ... 1679754601 At least the wash stand had pretensions of age. The telephone seat looks to be just MDF tat with terrible paint, not even the illusion of ever having been old or 'chic'.

    Which course?

I'm sure clubs suit some people, but they're unlikely to be as useful and enjoyable as a solid two days tuition in a well equipped workshop with a professional tutor. I haven't been to either myself, although I have watched Jason Breech (who teaches at Axminster) demonstrate. JB had a nice...

    Axminster TS-200-2 any good??

I've got the older TS200 and have been very happy with it. It has to be understood that this is a bit of a 'bargain basement' first table saw, but when used correctly has the potential to deliver good results. It does have the significant advantage for many of us that it takes up little room, so...

Newish to turning and new to the forum - Skew grinding angle

I sharpen my skew at 25 on my SPE and am very happy with the results.

    Easy money

He's sold over £6k worth of stock so far..... I can see the market for this stuff. If they could add rare provenance to the parts (eg tyres from Louis Hamilton's Mercedes) then prices could really be astronomic.

Avoiding brush marks in Rustins Plastic Coating...How?

You're the one with the brush stroke problem. Too thick a liquid may well cause that if it's been sitting around for too long as you said.

Avoiding brush marks in Rustins Plastic Coating...How?

That might be your problem if there's been a degree of solvent loss.

    Processing Your Own Timber

Interesting clip, it ought to be on a sticky. Although the trunks the mill owner rejected might be useful to turners.

    Triton Respirator

That must limit your options a lot now. Mail order shopping via the internet is common practice for most people these days. Delivery services are generally fast, reliable and cheap. Not my experience. I've bought from the USA, Germany, China, Hong Kong, Taiwan without any problems what so ever...

    Triton Respirator

But they may know of brands that are available easily in the UK that would fit. It may be that importing from Oz is an economic proposition anyway, especially for low weight items that you don't need in a hurry. Unless you ask, you won't know.

Respirator - Trend Airshield Pro or something else

I can't help but think this sort of rating can be a bit of a loose number. All measured on some sort of 'British Standard Head' model, rather than real people The actual protection offered will be dependant on the individual wearing it and how they breath. No big inward gasps and it's not...
