    American Oak dining table

I tend to use european oak on kitchens but recently the price has been going up almost monthly. I have done a few jobs recently in AWO and have been impressed with the quality of the timber much better than I remember. Most clients dont know the difference and dont care as long as the finished...

    American Oak dining table

The laminating looks like it turned out well. One thing I often do when laminating up table legs is order in 2inch wood 8-9 inches wide and cut the plank in half and join them together to get a 90mm square leg. The faces that join are in effect bookmatched and there is little colour variation. Jon

    What belt sander?

If you can find someone locally who services printing machines they may be able to re coat the rubber roller. I find the sanding frame quite usefull on my festool belt sander for keeping large areas as flat as possible. Jon

    new internal doors

An oak door from Howdens is usually oak veneer over a chipboard core with a thin strip of solid oak on the edges. They are not too bad for quality though. Jon

Any Future for lndependent Power Tool Retailers?

I think my local shop is bucking the trend. They have invested a fair bit of money in a internet site selling spares and consumables which keeps the money coming in. They can get most things next day through the Toolbank network (might be something similar to what mike was suggesting) and they...

    garden shed

Hi John it has taken about 5 weeks to build. I built it in the workshop to start with, there wasnt much room with that in there  It was then transported to site as panels. It went up pretty quickly but all the finishing bits seemed to take ages. The doors were bought in but i made all...

Its for a customer I couldnt afford it :D . The consumer unit had to be put there because that was the length of the electric cable from the main house board, well thats what the sparky said anyway. Jon

    garden shed

Just finished this this week. A huge beech tree fell on the old summerhouse and I got the job of building a new one. There was about 2 tonnes of spalted beech on site when I started unfortunately it all went for firewood  Its not the sort of work I usually do but in the last few years...

    Dolls house - inspiration, please

Whilst visiting Legoland as a Kid they had an amazing dollshouse there. I didnt take much notice of it at the time but my mums always banging on about it. Might be a bit technical for a first dolls house though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ei6cVDU8VKE Jon

    Scheppach ts4020 problems

The only thing I can think of is that the scoring blade may not be set high enough and is not catching the first bit of the panel either because the panel is warped or that the sliding table is not set square to the table and the panel is raised a little bit. Other than that have you tried...

    Cherry

On the whole I find Fitchett and Woolacott pretty good to deal with. I think I spent about £15k with them last year. I deal directly with a sales rep so I always get good service and price. I havent had any cherry from them for quite a while though. Jon
