    AWFS18 Blade Changing...

No harm done at all I just could not understand why anyone would not wish to use the quick tension release, now you have explained it I understand why. Can you not put a little Vaseline on the rollers to make it easier? Are your rollers worn? only the ones on my Hegner have had lot's of use yet...

    AWFS18 Blade Changing...

Sorry if I am being a dimwit but I don't quite understand some of the comments about not touching the blade tension clamp here? I thought the saw in question was to all intents and purposes a copy of the Hegner saw, now in my opinion one of the most useful things on the Hegner is the quick...

    Blade tension and alignment

I just give the blade a 'twang' and if it gives a nice metallic sound it is usually about right, after a while you get used to setting the tension without even thinking about it. It's not the end of the world if you get it wrong occasionally, usually the worst that can happen is the blade breaks...

Quality Ply wood suppliers (mail order)

Not heard of Hobarts before, had a look on the web-site but when I click on delivery (at the bottom) it just gives a page with a delivery header and no info? Is this just me?

Beginner Scroll Saw - what do I look for on a budget?

The original Record saw mentioned in this thread is a quality made machine manufactured by RBI they are not to be compared to the cheapo saws that Record put their name on now, I doubt you will see many of these original Record saws as they didn't market them very long. It's only my opinion but...

    BB ply

Agree with the other 2 replies, When you buy large sheets of decent ply they do sometimes have patches etc, but Hobbies is selling premium ply for fretwork and modelling in small panels and one does not expect patches and repairs especially at the prices charged. Whoever machines their panels...

    Scroll saw bench plans

Definitely true but 4 legs are easy to level if you need to and it's better if you want to use the space under for storage like my cupboard and Drawer. Mine is made heavily to cut down on any vibration plus I have rollers/casters under so it can me moved about if needed, folks may think casters...

Beginner Scroll Saw - what do I look for on a budget?

Well done Dunk I am glad it went to someone here. You have got a fantastic bargain there, a top quality saw for half the price of a cheapo Chinese made one. :)

Picture of my stands, they are heavily built and incorporate a cupboard and a drawer for the saw odds and ends.

Beginner Scroll Saw - what do I look for on a budget?

Seller says it is new and unused and it does look as if that's the case, as regards delivery the seller has answered a question from a prospective buyer that he would dispatch at the buyers risk, If the price did not go too high perhaps you could arrange a courier to collect for you? If it were...

Beginner Scroll Saw - what do I look for on a budget?

Agree with jonluv about the record saw on ebay, that is a quality made RBI saw that Record marketed when they were a company that took pride on products they sold rather than the cheap Chinese made saws that they offered later, you will find many such cheap saws with record badges but I would...

Home made scroll saw with some nice features.

It's very ingenious and nicely made but is only really useful for roughish work like a sort of motorised coping saw, looking at how the blade goes out of parallel it would not be much use for detailed fretwork but top marks for ingenuity! :)

    Pagoda Light & Shadow Box

Absolutely brilliant video, and a lovely item at the end of it. Very well done indeed. FWIW The music on the video is excellent too, (I know the first track it's the hit song Sukiaki by Kyu Sakamoto) How do you manage to make the video as well as making the project? I would find doing either...

    Question for you all.

I am right handed but cut either way but have noticed that if you stick to cutting the same way during a session you tend to get more accurate cuts, but that maybe just me. :)

    Hegner modification

We will have to agree to differ then! :) I spent the large part of my life in the electrical appliance spares trade and had access to how much the parts cost the manufacturers and yes they made big profits on the items but they are as nothing to Hegner charging £24 for a simple bog standard...

    Hegner modification

Any chance of a picture of the mod and rubber bands in use? Have to agree on the price of Hegner spares the cost of their spare parts is quite ridiculous, I remember my faulty Hegner (simple) on/off rocker switch for which they wanted £24 + p&p, it's just a bog standard item available from many...

    Blades...?

http://www.alwayshobbies.com/tools/hand ... s#q=page.1 Standard fretsaw blade length is 5" (130mm) I doubt you will find 133mm blades but 3mm won't make any difference either way.

    Being ripped off

I wouldn't worry, its called thread drift and happens in all forums and most of us do it from time to time it's what makes forums interesting. :)
