    Question concerning end-grain chopping board

Well first I was ripping strips off my timber so the stock began wide and then got narrower and narrower as I ripped off inches and turned the stock into strips (always using the same side of the blade!). I was then cross cutting - again cutting inches and using the fence.

    Question concerning end-grain chopping board

I have a question about milling stock for an end-grain chopping board I'm making. I'm ripping and cross cutting stock on my TS-200 with upgraded fence. What's odd is that two or three of my eleven strips of stock are 1mm wider than all the rest - which (for an end-grain chopping board) makes...

Anyone made an EZ Smart Table and/or repeater setup?

I did, they're not expensive and as such no duty to pay (in my case).

Anyone made an EZ Smart Table and/or repeater setup?

Gerry, I 'made' the table and it wasn't difficult. The only thing to be aware of it is that the dimensional timber we get here in the UK is thicker than what is available in the states. That meant I had to thickness all the support boards for the table before they would fit in the plastic...

    mobile machine base

I ordered two of these and have been quite impressed. Also a bit disappointed with the long delivery times. Many woodworking e-shops seem to lack a stock indicator.

Milling stock - a rambling question

Guilty as charged! It did seem to be a wasteful process. I wonder why nobody else pointed this out? Would you mind spelling out for this novice who wants to not only learn but learn and understand the error of my ways? Thanks! (Will be replying to other helpful posts in a bit but as you're...

Milling stock - a rambling question

Hi Just looking for some comparisons/reassurances or criticism here. An "am I doing it right" kind of post. Today was the first day I've been doing unaided (by an instructor) milling of stock in my own humble shop. I had been to the timber merchant's and bought some hardwood. I then began...

    Purpleheart

Hi yes I remember the split! It was caused by standing water!

    Purpleheart

Well, the colour would be good because I was aiming to make a modern chequered end grain chopping board - per the wood whisperer's Vid.

    Purpleheart

I went to my local hardwood merchant on Monday to buy some purpleheart and maple for a chopping board. I was surprised when the sales staff warned me off the purpleheart because it was unpredictable to work with once crosscut or ripped and advised against any other exotic wood because of...

Cyclist good or bad ( Poll )

The government wants to encourage cycling because it's sustainable transport, unlike the petrol/diesel engine.

Question about using the Festool Domino

Just got my new Domino - very pleased with it. Just have a question about a specific usage. If I wanted to make a cutlery tray, and domino the inner dividers to the frame, how would that be done? Obviously putting a domino in the dividers themselves is easy but how to mark/position the domino...

Best Saw blades for a Axminster TS-200

This is exactly the kind of cut I am looking for! Would you mind letting me know which Freud blade that is? I am trying to find a good blade for my new TS-200.... Does one really have to buy one blade for ripping and one for cross cutting? I have a biggish mitre saw so maybe I could just stick...
