Post a photo of the last thing you made

I've posted this elsewhere but I finished making the staircase to my daughters loft bed. The "staircase" is a series of hidden drawers with push to open runners. So we might actually be able to get to her bed now! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Domino in 12mm ply

So finished the top step of the stairs today or hidden draws whichever you prefer. Here's a couple of photos: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Domino in 12mm ply

Well I did the boxes for the drawers today and all went pretty well. I've got one runner that seems slightly out but I doubt anyone else will notice. I used pocket holes for the construction. I managed to use the 19mm setting in 18mm MR MDF by shortening the hole depth. All seemed to work well...

    Hinging one door of another

You can buy sprung roller balls that you insert under the door and they help take the weight. A few of these might help? As others have said I'd be very concerned about the weight and as you increase the distance from the hinge you'll be increasing the leverage affect. Sent from my iPhone...

    Domino in 12mm ply

Thanks guys. I hadn't seen Custards reply but realised the 4mm was shorter. (First time I'd used it) frustratingly I didn't know the 4mm cutter was the other way round in the box so bought one thinking I should have had one with my domino and then found I did! Anyway 4mm cutter 20mm depth set...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Cut all the sheet materials for some drawers and drawer boxes. Made all the drawers. Dominoed with 4mm dominos in 12mm ply. Seemed to go ok! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Had to share this one.

Awesome! Tempted to order some as well! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Domino in 12mm ply

No I don't need to use dominos. I'm just looking for a way to join them that will be strong enough but also as quick for me to do as possible as I don't want to spend my life making 4 drawers. Looking at my domino I've got a minimum depth of 12mm. So I either need to adapt it or use a...

    Domino in 12mm ply

It's not just the dominos he's tracking! He's got a better memory for what I've got and what I'm up to than I have! (My wife is still at the top of the leader board - she can remember everything I've bought). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Wow! You're making them round by sanding? How long is that taking? This is one of those jobs that you'll spend hours and hours on and almost nobody will appreciate the effort when they see the end result. Could you not take the edges off on a bandsaw to start with? I suspect the rings will...

    Domino Disaster

Ah I've just realised that the word Ar**d is censored! I don't swear much in life and never online so I was surprised to see something I'd written censored. Anyway to update this. I have my domino a blast of clean air and it now seems to be fine! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Yandles! - Annoyed

Well to update this, my Kreg jig finally arrived around 10 days later than I expected it. Credit to Yandles for finally getting it to me, but I still don't feel that they did a great job. Anyone can have an issue but it's how you deal with the issue that is important. After I raised the issue...

    Domino in 12mm ply

I did! I'm slightly concerned that you're tracking my every move, either that or you've got a good memory for who's doing what on the forum. :-) I've got a 4mm cutter and dominos so I'll have a look. Typically I just bought a Kreg K5 mainly for this project but the drawers were to heavy in 18mm...

    Domino in 12mm ply

I've got some 12mm ply that I need to join. As far as I can tell pocket holes are not good as the material is too thin (please correct me if I'm wrong) Anyone used a domino with 12mm ply? I'm concerned that 12mm might be too thin for dominos as well? As I type this I am trying to remember what...

Are Festool Router (and tools) really worth the money?

Seen that before and it is interesting however Festool provide a 3 year warranty and I don't know anyone who owns a TS55 and isn't pleased with it. I love mine - stonkingly good bit of kit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best Dust/Chip extractors for small workshop - Advice Please

I have a single garage with similar machines. I have a Karcher wet and dry vac connected to a dust deputy and drop bin. Works really well. I built a dust collection centre which is basically a series of blast gates you open the one you want and off you go. I now have the vac on a remote after my...

Are Festool Router (and tools) really worth the money?

Just to be clear Triton and Titan are very different makes of router. I have a Triton in my table and can't fault it. It's too big and heavy (and powerful) to do a lot of handheld work but beautiful in the table. I had some round overs to do with it the other day and did these by hand and it...

Right then! Off to the timber yard - or builder merchant in this case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Drawer design

To be clear the runners are beautifully smooth and take the weight without a problem. The issue is that the push to open mechanism struggles to put the drawer forward and I'm sure that this is due to the weight of the drawer. I'll go for 12mm ply with a 6mm drawer base Sent from my iPhone...

    Festool Birthday for me!

MrsStu seemed OK with the router purchase but did question if I needed another drill. I showed it to her and she thought it was cute so I think I'm in the clear! To be fair she does see value in Festool kit. The other day we were working on my daughters bed and she said it would be nice if we...
