Today is my Birthday and my loving wife went to Axminster (without me!) and got me this for my Birthday!

There was also an Axminster gift card at the bottom of it below some Green and Blacks chocolate.

Happy days!

The way to a mans heart is a gift of a bigger and better tool than he already has.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, Festool now do fruit pastilles, are they all green and black? like the tools and the chocolate.

Many happy returns*.
That's a cracking birthday pressie.

* ( 42, and still no idea as to why we say this? , what are these returns we mention?, can you put it in your mouth without chewing it?. )

You're a lucky man Stu. Happy Birthday. It's mine this weekend too. My Mrs has given up buying me anything because I have a habit of buying something for myself about a week before for some reason neither of us can figure out. I'm a man of simple tastes so I don't want a lot or buy a lot. After a few years of me buying myself the exact same thing she'd already bought me for my present, she doesn't bother getting me anything anymore. Sure enough two old planes turned up in the post this week and a bunch of old files from some old makers.... She just looked at me... and I knew exactly what she was thinking. Clue: I can't write it on here.

Regarding 'Many Happy Returns', it intrigued me so I googled it. :D

According to wiki at least, one suggestion is:
"The usual Salutation to a Man upon his Birth-day among the ancient Romans was Multos & foelices; in which they wished him many happy Returns of it."

According to my Mrs at least, it means "Keep Ye thy receipt. Thine Old Fella beist a Twonk of Great And Spectacular Magnitude"

Well as there was a £50 Axminster gift card in the box I decided to pop out and spend it today.

Bought a Festool OF1400 and a CXS as well as a few other bits I needed. I think MRs Stu will know that they weren't quite in the £50 budget but the tax man has just given me back some money of mine that he's had for two years so I figure I'll spend it before he decides he wants it back.

Ha! Now there's a question.

I got it out ready to take and thought, I'll just give the switch a few flicks and blast it with clean air. Did that and a quick test and it was working!

So no, not taken it in. I have probably taken it in and been told no fault found.

I did take my table saw in, so I'm looking forward to getting that back all square and true.

MrsStu seemed OK with the router purchase but did question if I needed another drill. I showed it to her and she thought it was cute so I think I'm in the clear!

To be fair she does see value in Festool kit. The other day we were working on my daughters bed and she said it would be nice if we put a radius on the end of the wood. I had my Festool tape measure in my hand so quickly pulled out the pin and drew a curve - she was genuinely impressed and said that the Festool stuff was really well thought out. She thinks the TS55 and the Domino are really clever as well.

Not sure il let away with any more for a while. Fortunately I don't think she had any idea how much the Kreg K5 is that arrived last week!
