What large capacity bandsaw is best for a small workshop?

Have a look at the Startrite bandsaws (available from Scott and sargeant amongst others). I bought a 503 fairly recently and it's a good solid machine. The 403 comes within your budget but only cuts to 280mm, the 503 cuts to 335mm and is £1739 inc VAT. A friend with a Hammer has noted that there...

    63mm fittings

www.ductstore.co.uk They don't do everything they do in 63mm but they certainly do bends, blast gates and spiral duct. I should imagine they would fabricate other components if you wanted. Mike

Multico B2 Planer Restoration with pictures

Nice job on the restoration of the machine. Really nice. With regard to wiring the emergency stop switch, your method isn't quite conventional. It is not normal to run the full motor current through the control switches. It may be ok in this instance as the motor is quite small and the currents...

    Moving my workshop 200 miles.

Hi, There is a guy called Mark of Contract Machinery Services, based in Washington who I have used to move machinery locally in Northumberland. His main line of business is servicing and supply of woodwork machinery. (I once bought an AGS off him but no longer have it). He has a small truck...

    Dust bag

It filters the dust and stops it spraying back out into the workshop. Air has to be able to flow out of it otherwise no air would flow through your extraction system.

    Shipping/Picking up Tools

Anyvan.com is another alternative to Shiply that I have used. I bought a three phase converter (100kg) and had it brought down to Northumberland from somewhere up on Scotland.

    Hand cut dovetails in sapele

If they are always too tight across all the tails and pins, and you are cutting to your knife lines that you have transferred, then perhaps you need to change the alignment just slightly when you transfer from the tails to the pin board. I did a box making course a few years ago in Devon. The...

    Birch Ply

Osmo also noticeably yellows birch ply, if that is a problem. A waterbased lacquer or varnish will keep it paler but probably needs a bit more care in application to get a decent finish. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Best book on making double glazed windows.

I don't think there really is one about modern windows. There are the historical ones (Lost Art Press Door and Window Making, McKay, Ellis) but while they give you a good idea of how these things used to be made the sections are wrong for DG units. The tooling manufacturers have developed...
