    Internal double doors question

Hello, A quick query please. I want to re-fit internal double doors where the previous owners removed them. I've found some 2nd hand in the correct size. However, they aren't rebated, they simply latch using a rolling ball-type catch. I'd prefer rebated doors. I know the simle answer is to buy...

    Central heating noise

Thanks for the reply. If the air's moving round the system, then presumably I need to bleed it when it's hammering through the pump (so I know where it is). Is there generally a bleed valve at the pump? Thanks

The puzzle my bro asked me on the bus

Surely it's not up to the Devil as to who gets in to Heaven? Reckon he's trying to pull your leg. And I doubt St Pete would approve of the gambling...* *I may have missed the point ;-)

    Central heating noise

Apologies for the probably vague posting, but central heating maintenance is a new field for me... We've had the heating on a lot recently (no explanation for that needed!), and we've started getting what I believe is noise from the pump. However, it's not constant. It'll rattle away, and then...

Where's the thread on building the Garnham way?

Thanks all, that original post/thread has answered my question. As stated, I did try to search for the original thread, without success (probably operator error). I appreciate it's probably irritating having people ask the same q's over and over. Thanks again, and roll on my new garage!

Where's the thread on building the Garnham way?

Thanks all. I was interested in the bit re the DPM under the concrete base. I seem to recall there being some comments about this, to prevent water from coming between the flap and the slab (thus rendering the DPM pointless), but can't remember what was suggested/advised... I've recently pured...

    Dead Inca bandsaw

Thanks all for the replies. I'm still waiting on more info, but will request the info suggested, and also ask for a photo of the motor. Thanks again, I love this site!

Thanks for the reply. Glad I didn't dream the whole thing!

Where's the thread on building the Garnham way?

Apologies if I'm inventing/imagining things, but I believe there was a stickied thread, that I wanted to look at, but can't seem to find. Has it been moved/deleted, or is it time for me to take my pills? Thanks!

    Dead Inca bandsaw

Having sung the praises of my Dad's million-year-old Inca bandsaw, I have been informed the motor has died. Anyone know if/where spares are available? I don't know if it's just worn brushes, or if it's totally cooked. I'm also waiting on model numbers etc. Thanks!

    Jet, Axi or Scheppach Bandsaw?

I'm probably too late to be of help, but I got the Jet saw last December. It's the first one I've bought (but have used my Dad's ancient but excellent Inca many times). I immediately replaced the issued blade, and it's been excellent, zipping through anything, up to 4inch Iroko. My only real...

Wood choice for a 'buryable' treasure chest?

I seem to recall reading something like that. And my grandparents owned a piece of furniture (I think it has a specific name but I can;t remember what) that was a bedside table with a lead-lined compartment to keep a chamber pot in - the purpose of the lining being to contain the "aroma". I...

Wood choice for a 'buryable' treasure chest?

What terrific idea! Hope the forum is still around in 18 years so we can find out how it went!

    Fitting a doorframe

Brill, thanks for the reply! Folding wedges - I'm unfamiliar with these... Presumably they are for packing out so the frame sides a vertical? Is the idea that a wedge is inserted from either side, so each side is packed out correctly?

    Fitting a doorframe

Sorry, me again... The former residents of our house removed a set of double doors, to make one large room out of 2. Great for space, but bl**dy cold, so we want to refit doors. However, it looks like the removed all the timber, covered over with 15mm timber boards, to tidy. I don't want to...

    fitting a new sink

Thanks for the reply. When you say an undermount, do you mean the sink actually sits beneath the worktop, like a belfast sink-type arrangement? I've got a bog standard sits-on-top-and-the-bowl-sits-in-to-a-hole-cut-in-to-the-worktop*. *as I believe they are known in the trade ;-)

    fitting a new sink

Hello, Apologies if this should be in a different place, but... We're re-doing our kitchen. I've got the new worktops and a new stainless steel sink and draining board (the cupboard carcasses are fine, and the doors are going to be revamped). I've never attempted plumbing before, so apologies...

    cutting laminate worktops

Brill, thanks for the reply! I'll whip out an old section and practise on that, before letting loose on the new stuff! Jut so's I've got it right, you're saying I should have the worktop upside down, to cut it (so the saw is sitting on the bottom of the worktop), and start the cut from the...
