Hello all,

Anyone got either a Jet JWBS-9 Bench Top Bandsaw or a Axminster AWHBS250N Bandsaw or a Scheppach Basato 1 Bench Top Bandsaw?

These are the 3 that I'm considering right now. Scheppach seems to have a lot more solid/ rigid fence from pictures. And have read a review that the Axi one has a poor fence until you fettle it a bit with some extra set screws.

If someone can reply quickly then I can get one in a ebay auction ;)

Cheers in advance_Dan.

are you looking at that basato one thats in stanwick ;)

theres also a baby record in shrewsbury btw

If you can get either cheap i'd go for it, as any of them are capable of doing what you want - the basato has a bigger footprint thasn the other two but not massively so.

and yes the axminster fence is reputedly quite poor - which is odd given how good their other bs fences are - but if you are mainly going to be cutting out letters then presumably you'll be working freehand most of the time anyway

The other thing i'd say is that the originally suplied blades on most makes often suck (this may not be an issue buying s/h) so you might want to replace it with a blade from ian at tuffsaws

Yes BSM, I WAS looking at that one, but I'm gonna go with MTS Tools £150 all in, inc delivery. I just want the warranty that comes with, don't mind paying £30 extra for that. I'll contact Ian @ Tufsaws about blades for it, nice1.

I'm probably too late to be of help, but I got the Jet saw last December.

It's the first one I've bought (but have used my Dad's ancient but excellent Inca many times).

I immediately replaced the issued blade, and it's been excellent, zipping through anything, up to 4inch Iroko.

My only real grip is the quality of the fences, which need constant checking, and the rip fence took quite a bit of fiddling to get it usable.

Hi DM,

Yeah, I've already purchased a Scheppach bench-top bandsaw (The Basato 1), it's not set-up yet, as I'm waiting for some better blades from Ian @ tuffsaws. But it looks like a nice bit'o kit, solid looking fence. Was pretty good value as well @ £150 all in, inc 3 blades and delivery.

I'll do a quick review if I have time, thanks for the reply though, Cheers_Dan.
