Why am I making bananas with my tools?

Can't help with your query, but at least you can take comfort from living in Tring. We visited the Nat. History museum there the other week - the town is lovely. Hope you get it sorted soon.

    Thanks all for the replies.

    Short door

Further to the thread in general, I've got a new garage (yay!), but the timber personnel door is cr*p (boo!). I'm not knocking the firm that supplied it, as I always figured it would need replacing. Anywho, I need a a door approx. 71" tall to replace it, which is way shorter than "normal" front...

Cement "fillet" for new pre-fab garage

Hello, I've (finally!) got my garage up - it's the pre-cast concrete panel type. I need to apply a fillet round the inside, to prevent water ingress. Is there any sort of pre-mixed product that I could use, in the interest of getting it done asap? Also, the bare concrete floor needs sealing...

Fixing slate tiles to brick wall

Hello, Apologies for the following random (and probably stupid) question... The previous inhabitants of our house lined one of the fireplaces with heavy slate tiles (the sort of thing that some people use for placemats, approx 12" x 9", and about 4mm-7mm thick). It needs a bit of re-doing in...

    Recommendation for infilling holes

Apologies if this is a dumb question, but is the Wilko stuff simply packaged as epoxy resin? I've never seen it in-store, but would be curious to give it a try. Cheers

    Triton TCB100 - adding extras

Hello, Can anyone tell me if the extra bits, specifically the extension tables ETA100 and ETA300, can be used with the TCB100? Or only with the larger workcentres? Many thanks

    Consolation prize

Interesting, if nothing else! What's the point of the little ball that's usually on the end of one of the handles on pincers? Is it something to do with farrier-ing?

    Brown oak coffee table.

I love that table, very nice work. Out of curiousity, would the resin alone stabilise splits like those, or does it need to be combined with the butterflies?

    Advice wanted from cabinet makers

That's a great looking piece of furniture! Andy - good luck with the course. Can you advise of its formal title, as it sounds great,. I was wondering if it might be held in other colleges too?

    cutting piano hinge

Hello, As per the title, it is possible to/how do you cut piano hinge? I've got some that I reclaimed from a dismantled table. Do I need to do anything to the rod to make it stay in place? Or am I going to end up with several pieces of bin fodder? Many thanks

    Tealight for a secret santa

Nice and clean. Would look good at the centre of a nicely laid dinner table.

    Hardwood sleepers

I picked some up. They're filthy so until cleaned off, I don;t know what they are. The seller reckoned they were used as a temporary road surface at a building site, so were laid down untreated (we'll see when I scrub them down). Fingers crossed they aren't slathered in creosote, but for the...

    Hardwood sleepers

Hello, WARNING - possibly idiotic question impending Someone is selling what are advertised as reclaimed hardwood sleepers near me. Anyone know what timber these are likely to be? I appreciate there may not be a simple answer, but wasn't sure if one type of wood tended to be used over others...
