For all of us who never find the beautiful tools that Jimi and others seem to conjure out of car boot sales and the like, here is a picture of my latest find. Buried in the drystane **** between us and the neighbour. Don't think it will make a fortune on Ebay.....

Nah - just a very ordinary pincer, but as you say, lacking the cat's paw and the opposing ball. Best fate is probably to bury it reverently back in the ****!
 
Interesting, if nothing else!

What's the point of the little ball that's usually on the end of one of the handles on pincers? Is it something to do with farrier-ing?
