air hacksaw / body saw blade recommendation?

That'll teach me to not assume - I could have sworn that the saw blades were wider than a "normal" hacksaw blade, but you are correct, they're the same height. Much obliged, I'm off to Screwfix for a pack of Eclipse blades...

air hacksaw / body saw blade recommendation?

Hi Can anyone recommend some decent blades for my air hacksaw? The shape I'm after are as per the link (the type sold by Toolstation) but these blunt v quickly. I see Screwfix stock Erbauer ones, but te pack is quite large so I don't want to buy them if they're no better. Much obliged...

    SCREWDRIVERS

Someone gave me an angled ratchet screwdriver. I'd never used is, regarding it as a gimmick, until... I was trying to construct something in a conservatory in July. The heat meant my hand was constantly clammy, and I just couldn't get any purchase on the screwdriver. Gimmick tool saved the day.

    Kid's tools

Great idea. I was given a cantilever steel toolbox and some assorted tools by my grandparents for my 10th birthday - I can't say how made up I was with it!

    Gumtree rant

Also be careful if you're buying on Ebay and the seller has put their phone number in the listing. I recently won an auction at around the £100 mark. I got in contact within about an hour of it finishing, and in the meantime, someone had already called, pretending to be the winning bidder. If...

Pitstone Green Museum (Buckinghamshire) - Rural life etc

http://www.pitstonemuseum.co.uk/ Visited this place at the weekend - was a lovely day, and I wanted to give them a mention as it's run by volunteers and they rely on word of mouth for advertising. They had a huge old saw mill in operation (the blade was about 3.5ft), an enormous stationary...

    Upcycling

Any chance of posting a pic? They sound intriguing. Agreed it's not hard to find a nice lamp, but shades are generally dull. p.s. the previous remark about upcycling being an escape has a lot of merit - my hobbies (inc woodworking) are stress-relieving from my tedious 9-5.

    Baking parchment.

I got some in Robert Dyass a few years ago now, but they may still stock it. Prob cheaper online though. HTH

    Anyone got this planer?

My old Axminster jointer didn't have the model number marked on it either. I did a Google image search for Axminster jointers, and looked for hits that resembled mine, and nosied through the associated websites until I came across one that stated the model no.

    Secondhand Belt Sanders

My Dad (joiner, now retired) has a metal-bodied Wolf belt sander. I don't know exactly how old it is, but it's still going strong since at least the early '80's . As is his metal-bodied Wolf single speed 'leccy drill, now I come to think of it.

    Steak Knives

Yes, the faux bone handles can be removed. If you try and split them, WEAR EYE PROTECTION. The stuff explodes like a grenade, and sends sharp splinters flying. I mean the sort where the handle is solid, and the knife fixes in to it by way of a tang. I've never tried, but heating them may be a...

    Building my own worktop

Again, depending on the look you're aiming for, what about a sheet of better-quality ply?

    Concrete sectional workshop?

I have a sectional concrete garage as my workshop. As mentioned, condensation on the steel roof was an issue, but spray foam sorted that for me (but sounds like you already have that covered). I second the advice re painting the walls. The supplied woodwork was, on all the different makes I...

Finish for wooden clothes airer? And iroko suitable?

Hmmm, I hadn't considered sensitivity - iroko doesn't (currently) affect me, but it may do others. I'll dig out something else. Cheers

    Roll Cab Build

Good idea on robbing old filing cabinets for the runners etc. Re cheating - is making life easier for yourself cheating, or simply sensible? At any rate, please keep up posted!

    Roll Cab Build

I don't know what, but for the drawers - could you get hold of some pre-formed steel "trays", and then make the rest of the cabinet around them? Something like industrial baking trays?. Or shallow oil-drain trays? The drawers (as you pointed out) will prob be the fiddliest bit, and buying that...

Finish for wooden clothes airer? And iroko suitable?

Thanks again all. I'm in Bucks, so about as land-locked as you can get! Thank goodness for the interweb.
