    Bristol Design

Bristol is well worth a visit anyway. Plenty of art, history and interesting places to eat. Lots of independent shops doing something interesting.

Can you critique these prototpe boxes please?

Just to be clear for the OP. Solid wood will expand/contract across the grain, and this needs to be allowed for in your design otherwise you will get warping or splitting. Solid wooden bases would need to sit in a groove that allows them to move to avoid these problems. MDF and plywood are both...

    this joint for drawer fronts

I planned a joint like this for a sunrise box a few years ago. Never got around to making it though. The joint as to mirror the rays of the rising sun carved onto the front. It was eight levels above my skill set though! :D

Can you not measure 3 units one way and 4 the other? If the diagonal between the two points is 5 units, the angle must be 90 degrees.

    Sharpening using valve lapping paste

A flat piece of mdf works reasonably well with polishing compounds. It tends to hold the abrasive rather than let it be pushed around. I find the blade acts as a squeegee when using polish on glass, and the compound gets pushed in front of the blade rather than acting on the surface

    Wood recycling

Free cycle, skips (ask owners first), unsold items at auction houses (have a word with them and say you’ll take away unattractive unsold large furniture). Never tried the last one, but know of someone that does this.

Knocking back grain & danish oil without going white

If you want a smooth finish with no pores, sanding sealer is probably a quicker way to go.

    What solvent

Agreed. A little heat (even from a hairdryer if you don’t have a heat gun) works wonders for removing stickers. If you want to avoid residual adhesive, “peel slowly and see” :) Also works for labels on LPs and foam surrounds on HiFi speakers.

    Profitable craft items?

And that is the going rate in, for instance, John Lewis. You get the extra added value of being able to meet and chat to the person that made the item. There is tremendous value added from a personal connection to producing the item. Many crafters undersell this aspect of their items. They...

    Profitable craft items?

We should have a thread on how to marry a rich supportive partner who will subsidise time in the shed!

    Stain removal from Marble -ideas?

No knowledge at all, but obviously you need to avoid anything acidic. I find coconut oil good for removing stains and sticky residue. Maybe try something oily?
