Any H&S legal type guru's out there? Need some advice.

That just simply isn't true. You need to look closely at the Health & Safety at Work Act but it does cover all work related situations. If you want to know how it describes work then look at section 52. You are however, dead right about CE marking.

    Triton update?

So, - on the basis of all the above I may well be better off using another make in my new table. Bit of a shame as the Triton is good in a table. Anyone have any suggestions for a good table mounted router? I'm probably going to use the woodpecker lift thingy to make adjustment easier and...

    Triton update?

Anybody know what's happening with Triton? I'm thinking of replacing my (Triton) router and wonder if it's worth trying to search another one out. All sites to date seem to say currently out of stock. Failing a new Triton what's the next best table mounted router? Considering going to a...

    Rutlands deals

I do like the sound of £200 off but when does something that is well overpriced in the first place become 'acceptable'? Even at £400 it's a hell of a lot of money and I'm not sure it's really worth it (I am currently considering a new router table so looking closely not just being sarcastic!).

    Waste disposal

Russ, Is it stuff you can pass on to others? I'm always on the look out for off cuts (couple of feet or so) as I make quite a bit of smaller stuff. Maybe an advert in one of the local freebies would raise some interest? Stuart

    To wax ....

She'll love being referred to as a 'girlie'!! My latest blast of inspiration is to cover the top with some toughened polished edge glass so she can spill, thump or whatever without me wincing all time. On that basis I'll have a go at waxing and see where it ends up.

    To wax ....

or not to wax, - that is my quandary (sorry Mr S!) I'm finishing a dressing table for a VIP client (SWMBO) and after a couple of coats of danish oil it's all looking very good. Normally I'd continue with several more wiped on coats and stop at about 6. However, this time round I'm thinking of...

Dovetail Jig... Leigh kind of thing!

I'm a D4 user as well and apart from the above mentioned re-reading of the instructions which can be a bit of a pain (but then most dovetail jigs need a bit of 'refreshing' before use) I think it's a great bit of kit and wouldn't swap it for any other. It's a shame the other jig bars are so...

    Router mounting plate

And this for me is a real issue. I had a Axminster router lift and it really was a very good bit of kit and could be adjusted with ease. However, even with a collet extension fitted changing bits was always a voyage of discovery and skinned knuckles! Even with a few problems setting up...

    Router mounting plate

Thanks for the responses. I'll certainly look at the flat plate, - nice to see I can get it from a UK source. May even push the boat out and look at one of the table packages. Considering whether I want to stay with the Triton. It's been a good workhorse but when they wear a bit they seem to...

    Crown Guard and Riving knife

I seem to remember under the old Woodworking Machine Regulations the riving knife had to be 10% thicker than the saw plate (i.e. not as thick as the kerf but thicker than the body of the blade as mentioned by Jason).

    Router mounting plate

Currently running a Triton in one of those plastic 'domed top' insert plates. Need to look at renewing the top (don't ask!) and at the same time thinking of a different plate to provide a flatter surface overall. Whilst the Triton is quite good for adjustability (mines getting old, worn and...

anyone own an Axminster AW106PT2 planer thicknesser ?

Ahem (cough) I suppose because I can! Like many people I very rarely have enough cash for a major item of equipment. Table saw was upgraded a few years ago and I was looking to improve my planing capabilities. The thicknesser has been a real workhorse and enabled me to produce work...

anyone own an Axminster AW106PT2 planer thicknesser ?

I'm another one considering the Axminster. Have been using one of their thicknessers and a Perform jointer for a few years now and fancied the upgrade to a single machine. As I had a delay in the finance becoming available I've been wondering whether it's actually worth upgrading. I've managed...

    grand father clock

This is exactly what I did. Good job too as the movement supplier told me one thing and the final dimension for the pendulum swing was almost an inch more. I can hear it now, - tick, thump, tock, thump as the weight hits the side of the case. Not quite what I had in mind! Also make sure you...

    grand father clock

Brian, Without wishing to sound rude it is what it says it is! A stain contained within a thickish gel. Brush on, - leave for about 5 minutes and then wipe off. Gives a beautiful even colour. Goes a long way as well. Unfortunately I haven't seen any over here and I managed to get mine in the...

    grand father clock

Here's a link to the one I made last year. https://www.ukworkshop.co.uk/forums/view ... ht=#171947 I really enjoyed the process and thinking of making another. Let me know if you have any questions ans I'll try and help.

    Best router for Leigh superjig?

Having spent the money on a Leigh jig I couldn't afford a new router so have been using one of the Axminster half inch white ones  Actually been quite good and haven't experienced any problems with its use.

How can I tell if i might need a 16 amp supply?

Thanks for all the responses. I'm now not so concerned with the electrical issues but the standard of the proposed machine! I really don't want to invest in a bit of kit that I may well have problems with at a later date. The AW106PT2 does now look as if it would be a much sounder bet as a...
