    Discovery Shed

I quite like 'How its Made' although it does tend to have an American slant (baseball bats, pitchers gloves, ice hocky skates etc). It has recently been introduced by Robert Lleywellen (sp?) of Red Dwarf fame and he does his intro in a fairly impressive looking workshop. Anton doesn't do...

    Garage build

 I am in the wrong line of work! A single skin of brick with a couple of support pillars and corrugated roof costs 25-30k? For that I would want windows, insulation, windproof doors, electrics and a beer fountain with barmaid service  Very much doubt a garage will add 30k to the...

    Nice - your work? Steve.

Local Recycling Centre - AKA "The Tip"

Yup, they do. At our local tip they get a bonus depending on the percentage of waste that is recyled compared to the percentage sent to landfill - the more recycled the greater the bonus. Steve.

Door knocker, I had some fun.

I bet the days just fly past.....

    New Top Gear!

Ooh you don't know how lucky you are to get the 'look' with the 'silence'. Most of us get the 'look' followed by the 'constant, non stop verbal ear bashing and tuts of disapproval' followed by the 'you just don't understands' and the 'floods of tears'. Rolling your eyes at about this point will...

    Sold By A Man?

 For selling something, this has to be my favourite at the moment though: http://www.boreme.com/boreme/funny-2007/bike-for-sale-p1.php Having just purchased another motorbike with the disapproval of SWMBO still ringing in my ears I know exactly where he is coming from! Steve.

    Workwear

Bit hit and miss on the dickies to be honest - I ordered 2 pairs of one style and 2 pairs of another (forget the names- sorry). All the same size, one style fits great, the other seems to require supermodel thin thighs - I can get into them but if I ever need to bend over to tie my laces or pick...

    TT Races

Nerves of steel and permanently clenched buttocks I would think! These are normal roads, complete with pot holes, drain covers, white lines and roadsigns. The only problem I have with it is all the idiots on new shiny R1's and CBR's trying to emulate their heros while ignoring the fact that...

    Pictures

There is a sticky in the off-topic section that takes you through it, or at least it used to be a sticky. If its not there then a forum search should find it! Steve

    Templates by Numbers

£30 per template or £30 to download a computer programme that draws the templates? If the latter then it has potential, if the former spend your cash on a good joinery text book and learn how to do the laying out yourself would be my advice. Practice on scrap wood - either pine, which can be...

    Strong case for euthanasia

Sounds like diabetes to me, although those symptoms can have a number of other causes, most of them rare. If your blood sugar level was non-fasting that is not hugely high though, if it was fasting then it is. Depends how long before the test you ate and what it was you ate. Steve.

    Wedges please for imminent order

Running out of wood? Why can you not just cut these from a couple of lengths of CLS? Steve.

    axminster machinery

Probably, if they have it as a demo on the shop floor. I was certainly able to try my scrollsaw before purchasing - I wanted to see how much vibration there was so they kindly ran an extension lead out to it. Ther machines are not all next to a plug though, so may pay to phone and ask/request...

    Oh dear.

Peter certainly knows his stuff - Sittingbourne is my 'local' branch and he is often behind the counter or doing demo's. Used to be a furniture maker himself I believe so has practical experience as well as technical expertise. Steve.

    Where are all the manifesto's?

Dunno, do you have to send off for them nowadays? Cannot remember the last time we got one through the letterbox. What we do get is a weeks worth of flyers and 'vote for me' bits of paper that tell you absolutely nothing about either a candidate or what he stands for, then nothing for 4 years...

    Glucosamine & Chondroitin

Holland and Barratt quite often have offers on, if not 3 for 2 then a 'sale' price. http://www.hollandandbarrett.com Steve.

    Competition WIP - Rocking Chair

The only rocking chair I have ever owned ( a huge sample of 1!) had the seat sloped back when at rest ie not parallel with the floor. Thus when you rock backwards and forwards you do not slide out of the chair on the forward rock. With your design it appears to me that the seat is parallel to...

    Unusual wood working hazard

Yup, grass snake. We have some living in our garden - have to scan the lawn before cutting as they like to lay out in the sunshine  Steve.
