    Beer!

The US can make beer, but its patchy. I am currently in Cincinnati and have been drinking Samuel Adams Ale. They do a standard one and a seasonal one, which rotates 4 times a year and is flavoured/brewed with different ingredients. The winter seasonal is pretty good! Steve

Welcome - look forward to seeing you using the scrollsaw for something other than timber! Steve

    New saw

Thats quite impressive - did you stack cut with the blade at an angle then drop the letters in? I cannot see any sign of the blade entry holes so well done indeed! How thick is the timber by the way? Steve

    Huh?

Sigh, I have to fly to the US on 6th Jan. I now expect to be held up at security for a good long while as we bolt the stable door after the horse has bolted. 51ml of face wash sir, sorry you will have to drop it in the bin and buy 50ml airside. Semtex in your underpants - have a nice flight sir...

    TG in SA...

Been wondering the same. Happy to believe it could have been genuine apart from the shots from the 'cliff edge' bonnet position. Clearly taken from the camera car, and no clear shot of the two vehicles and the road in close up - only from a distance. I think a bit of artistic licence. I also...

    Woodworking TV

OK, I will have a bash at answering this. A large number of people seem to have been inspired by Norm to take up woodworking as a hobby. He is often, whether rightly or wrongly, held up as the 'gold standard' for TV woodworking. The question is - why? He doesn' tend to have segments outside the...

Insert not flush on my AWFS18

Two general ways - either make your own out of a suitable thickness of plywood or MDF, or stick a bit of card to the bottom of the existing one until it gets to the right height. Being lower than the table is easier than being higher, since you then have no option but to make a new one. A third...

scroll saw to cut 1.5mm plastic

Saws - stick with your choice of the SIP. Clarke are an icky yucky cheap brand of just about everything they make and you really do get what you pay for in terms of cheap tools. As for cutting plastics, any scrollsaw will cut them, but the quality of cut you get will be variable depending on...

    Router cutters - less that 1/4 circle round-over ?

Try looking at Dremel, Proxxon and similar small hand held mini drills and routers. Probably will not go in a normal 1/4 inch router without a collet adaptor though. steve.

    Soffit and facia

It really depends on the location and difficulty in acessing the soffits and facias. I needed to have a scaffolding company put up scaffolding to reach mine round the back of the house so I did it in UPVc. At a cost of £300 for scafolding every time they needed painting it was a no brainer. They...

board widths (jewelry box + general)

Depends how delicate I want the piece to look and how much wood I have to be honest. Somewhere between 10mm and 6mm. If using drawers or internal trays however then I tend to want these thinner than the box sides, and anything under 6mm is getting difficult to keep straight over any great...

    Extra long articulated truck

Numerous examples depending on how you define little lane. M2 J7 and J8. J7 leads to the A251 which after 1/3rd of a mile becomes the A2. Both single lane, both with residential housing and schools on them. The A2 runs through Faversham in Kent, and at the back of that is a depot for M&S and the...

    Extra long articulated truck

No, no and thrice no. There is not even a place on our clogged up congested poorly maintained motorways for the thing. Arctics performing elephant leapfrog on 2 lane or 3 lane motorways are the bane of any regular motorists life. With speed limiters and the 0.0001mph differential it can take...

    Lyndhurst Woodworking

I do wish you luck with your venture. Can I ask though - if you are planning for delivery from the manufacturer to the customer, With a 60 day lead time, this wil definately turn off custom. If you want full payment in advance then even more so. Rutlands took a huge amount of stick a while ago...
