    Osmo oil

Thanks Phil, but both of them only sell 500ml cans and are significantly more expensive than howdens. I wonder if it is a product that the manufacturer keeps a tight rein on the price?

    artex asbestos testing advice

To be pedantic It’s “only “ hazardous when inhaled. Or more specifically respired, which is not the same thing. Keeping it wet and dust free is the standard technique for removal.

Axminster "precision" combination set square - total joke

I have long assumed that Axminster QC department were its customers. So long as there is a no quibble returns policy it's a reasonable business model ...... I suppose.

    Osmo oil

I will need to finish some kitchen worktops and based on rave reviews here, will be using osmo. Should I use top oil? Or are one of the others actually better.? Also where should I buy it from? I plan to get more than enough so I have some for other projects I can see someone on line but they...

    artex asbestos testing advice

Just read a thread further above. I know and understand asbestos testing. There is absolutely no way someone could test and make a living at 20 quid a pop.

    artex asbestos testing advice

When I worked, I had qualifications concerning asbestos in an industrial environment . My advice is , don't bother testing just assume it is asbestos. Proper testing would cost you nearly as much as proper removal. Asbestos in artex is well bonded to the substrate, so relatively safe to remove...

    Another Joke

If WW2 had broken out today....... Can I have more clarity on the “Your country needs you” slogan, it’s too ambiguous Why aren’t you doing enough to prevent these air raids? Does the siren apply to everyone? There are only male and female toilets in the air raid shelter and I don’t identify as...

    Shed / Summer house roofs

Have you considered bitumen roofing sheets? You can get different profiles and colours. Not used them but plan to, for replacing a shed roof.

Do you reuse paint brushes and rollers?

You have recommended them before so I bought a set. As usual you are correct they are excellent.

    Hancock's Half Hour

Is there really anything super critical happening in London that requires people to travel there? Most London workers appear to be paper shufflers. All the construction work is to either transport to or provide a place of work for said paper shufflers.

    "Low-skilled" workers

This is typical of the poor planning! If the custodian of the kettles “didn’t make it”, we would have had to surrender within days!

If it wasn’t for the NDA I signed, I would comment on your grandfather’s insight . :D

    Cars and batteries

Got into the diesel for the first time this morning since I opened this thread, so 5 weeks. I have been worrying about the cat as the exhaust was smelling. Car locks opened ok but the engine would not turn over. Son came up and we jump started it from his car. Being careful to distance! Took...

Anyone have Bosch GOF 1250 or Makita RP1110?Collet question.

Putting aside the safety issues, I think the torque needed for an half inch cutter would melt the motor very quickly.

    Fence paint

I think I am going to wait awhile as all the regular retailers have virtually nil stock. Also her majesty wants a colour, currently one of the ducks back range. Sub twenty quid for nine Litres....... if only there was stock!! I have a thousand and one other tasks (or so she tells me)...

    Fence paint

I have rather a lot of fencing to paint. Most usual places have no stock , I think everyone has been using it in the lockdown. I can wait until the rush is over. But it occurred to me that someone here might know a better supplier than the usual retailers. Particularly as I need around 40...

    Is this the future?

I am at a loss as to understand why the wood surrounding the hole is not crushed.

    "Low-skilled" workers

Who interestingly do not require specific qualifications to be able to do their job (I carefully avoided using the word profession).

    "Low-skilled" workers

I think this is just lazy language use. The chef is the person in charge of the kitchen , the rest are variously skilled kitchen staff. Burger flippers call themselves chefs. It's a bit like our use of the word engineer. In Germany were they value real engineers it is a protected title.

Power of Attorney - just a Heads Up to say ...

My mum had one of those pay it upfront funeral things with the coop and they were truely wonderful! So my brother and I let the coop probate service do the paperwork, they were beyond awful
