    Building the Lingerie Chest

+1 I know it sounds lazy but I don't have that much time to spend on the forum, although when I do it's always useful. If the build/wip was posted here I'd be following it avidly. Just saying.....

tool for cutting 38cm squares ?

Any decent table saw will allow you to cut a 38mm rip. Once you've got as many as you need then set up a stop on a mitre saw and cut away.

    Which rescue service?

Being the proud owner of a Landcover Defender of 1986 vintage which has had more conversions and alterations done than your average californian bimbo I pray almost daily and offer up my thanks to the RAC. I regularly tinker (or tamper according to SWIMBO) with the beast and due to my appalling...

Mahogany Hall Cupboard with Satin wood cross banding

I like that a lot =D> =D> =D> If there was a smiley showing a middle finger to a woodwork teacher then this would be the place to use it. Excellent skills and fine work, especially with all the veneer grain matching stuff. Totally beyond me. Very impressed.

    Laminated plywood bending (bowing)

I've done something similar to this before for a client who wanted exactly this effect for staircase risers (they weren't structural but simply glued onto the main risers. I found that using the wax paper as you've been advised worked well, a piece either side with a clamping block (caul?)...

    Earthquake!

I'm using the quake as an excuse if the current wardrobe I'm building looks wonky. "Sorry luv, acts of God are a bit beyond my control."

Stopped Rebate help and advice required

Gotcha. Dunno why I didn't think of that myself. Thanks Jacob and Graham. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Jacob, I'm sure you're right but my brain is only working in 2D mode at the moment. I'll have to have a go at sketching this out tonight. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Stopped Rebate help and advice required

But if the design calls for the view from the side and top to be uninterrupted then the solution you proposed earlier wouldn't fulfill the design brief. The original client (SWIMBO) wanted a clean butt joint hence the reason for the stopped rebate in the first place. Sent from my iPhone using...

I've just taken a punt on this PHOTOS

ooeer.... A mate of mine (kitchen fitter) turned up with one of these on its a few weeks ago. Brand new, never been used. He fitted a small flush trim bit and proceeded to edge up a board that he'd laminated - after about three seconds it started whining, then smoking and finally bang!! The...

Stopped Rebate help and advice required

Thanks guys. (I'm assuming you're all guys - a bit sexist of me so sorry if I'm wrong) I had thought of the 'haunched tenon' type option and also running right through and 'plugging it' but both seem more difficult to get looking '**** on'. The way I'm currently doing it prevents you from...

Stopped Rebate help and advice required

I'm looking for a bit of wisdom from the woodworking collective. I recently posted about a cabinet I had made for the missus (#p968103) I've been asked to make some more of these cabinets in a variety of sizes and was wondering if there was a better way of achieving the rebate on the back of...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Last weekend I had an unexpected 8 hrs of undisturbed peace and quiet when SWIMBO took the little darlings out for some rowdy party or other at what can only be described as a large padded cell for adrenaline fuelled kids - sounds horrific to me. I was only too glad to be left alone in the...

Amazing discovery - now includes foolproof mayo recipe

I'd get the Butler to hold up a 'modesty screen' (tea-towel) and just munch away, aka Miliband Bacon Sarnie style. The get Jeeves to rustle you up another one.

Amazing discovery - now includes foolproof mayo recipe

It's not that hard really. You simply have to get the mindset right. If you're concerned about appearing dignified and proper whilst eating said burger then you're gonna struggle. If on the other hand you are prepared to be seen as a half starved dog then just get stuck in. You'll end up with...

    Chicken Hoose

Sven, the 3D warehouse upload worked just fine. Like the design, I'll probably have to adapt it a bit as SWIMBO has decided that an old tree stump is to be the base for the new chook palace. We are quite used to having chickens having had up to 5 at a time. The last lot succumbed to the neck...

    Sausages

Not sure what the science is Steve but I know that a quite ordinary banger can end up being transformed, although nothing will ever make the Richmond ones edible. I suspect it's that as the sausage heats through slowly everything gets a chance to mingle etc producing a more rounded flavour -...

    Sausages

I think one of the most important things when cooking (and subsequently scoffing) sausages is to give them plenty of time to cook. Having read an article by Matthew Fort (food critic bloke) I now cook mine for about 45mins to an hour over an extremely low heat. I don't turn them nor prick them...

Struggling to cut 35mm hinge holes in MR MDF - Advice please

Like a few of the others who've posted here I also drill lots of these holes - up to 50 a week. some time ago I invested in a EuroDrill - a simple clamp on jig from Blum that has a variable edge distance thingy and also guide holes for the fixing points. I have found that when drilling into...
