    Wax on Oak MDF

Hi all, I have put a wax finish onto a 22mm oak MDF panel and I'd like to know, as it's MDF, whether I should wax both sides? The panel is 800 x 600. Thanks, Neil

    Plywood outside

As jumps says it used to be easy buying marine ply. You need to look for "Marine Plywood to BS1088". There is also "Marine Plywood Lloyds Approved", but this will cost a small fortune. I would recommend Le Tonkinois Varnish. This is an excellent product and can have a matt finish. HTH, Neil

    Cordless drill/driver

Have a look here for a guide to buying a DeWalt drill and here for a guide to buying a Makita drill. Richard at ITS has done an excellent job. I hope that helps. Neil

    Space saving/ multifunction furniture

I looked into a hardware lift for a coffee table quite a while ago and, IIRC, it was about seventy pounds. I really like the idea of being able to raise the coffee table.

    Sharpening: 1000 vs 16000 grit.

+ 1. Paul Sellers is excellent and shows you how to do it freehand, something that I never thought I would attempt.

A good router for a Leigh dovetail jig - advice appreciated.

I use a DW621 and it works really well. I would strongly recommend that you use a router with an 8mm collet. Neil
