Straight out of the workshop, punky in places but have managed to harden them up with a good dose of sander sealer(see last photo). Made from Walnut it has so much going on in the grain even some light feathering Finished with sander sealer and then buffed on a three wheel system C and C welcome

Best advice is get a qualified electrician to wire it up. As you may get many different answers here and if it goes wrong then the outcome could be nasty. Being an ex plant mechanic and having to repair many electrical tools I have seen some very dodgy machines that people have tried to repair

Nice pen. London plane can vary in the grain pattern from small tight grain to open grain, I must admit the spalting adds to the pen blank you have got there

Tell me about it I only put a centre in the tailstock the other day to only reach across the bed and put a nice little gauge along my arm may have not been deep and only a scratch type injury but due to tablets it bled like mad.

Ridethewave to add to what Chas has put if possible bring up the tailstock with a revolving centre to add a little extra security while you clean up the bulk of the bottom then remove it for the final work where it was holding the piece. Light cuts are best when using the cole jaws

I also have a texturing tool and like yourself do not use it enough. Just glad that I brought it very cheap and in as new condition.

I like the addition of the textured band around the top, not too much to distract from the wood

Straight off of the lathe. I rough turned this Oak blank a while ago and it promptly split so I left it in the pile and came across it and decided to repair the split and make a feature of it, there are also some other splits. I think I need to work on the butterfly fits :oops: It measures 9" X...

Thank you Done a little more today but spent time first setting my chop saw up as the settings seemed to be a little out just enough to throw the cut out. Once the saw was cutting square I could then cut the 45deg corners. The Oak rim is the first part of the top there will be a board on top...
