    Busy two days

A busy couple of days, yesterday started with a phone call to Record power yet again. I got a replacement motor Saturday after months of waiting to find they have changed the shaft diameter from 5/8" to 16mm it may only be a few thousands of an inch different but it was the difference of the...

    craft supplies limited 2000 pcc

If you already have Sorby jaws yet would like some of the Axminster ones as well then go for a Versa chuck 3 as you can buy carriers to fit a number of manufacturers chucks I have one and use Sorby and Axminster jaws on it. Glue for Segmented Bowl Turning

I had this discussion with Chas ( CHJ ) a little while ago and changed to cascamite on his recommendation as I found that with PVA type glues that you got some creep which left ridges at the joints. If you sell your work then this is undesirable

    Resin for woodturning

For pen blanks of resin, only the easiest one to cast is polyester resin, and mica powder for the colour medium. THIS is the stuff I used You can get some very good results with it. You still need to get the mix right otherwise it can end up very brittle. This is an example of what it can look like

    Monmouthshire Waggon

I have glued up some more on the shaft assembly. Anyway while that is sitting and drying I needed some more 1/8" thick pieces for the waggon sides and bed. Started with this lump of Oak 3 1/2" X 2" X15" long. I would have liked to make the pieces the 3 1/2" but the grain was not looking...

    Monmouthshire Waggon

May not look like a lot has been done but what has is time-consuming, cut the last of the mortice and tenons on the shaft assembly. Then assembled and did some fettling to make sure they all fit just right and close any gaps that needed it. Took it all apart yet again and gave it a final...

    Chuck for small lathe

I have just brought a Versa 3 chuck it does take a number of different manufacturers jaws including Axminster it does, however, mean buying jaw carriers which is not a bad thing as it means changing from one set of jaws to another is very easy. Having said that it is a rather heavy chuck so may...

Very well organised Chas I have most of my sandpaper in an old wooden A4 pigeon hole filing system and my mops still in the original box. Looks like I may have to have a building session for the storage of them after seeing yours. Glad to see you put a door on the mop storage. With the sanding...

    Hawthorne Log

Looks like it will be interesting once complete. Certainly, a challenge knowing what to do with a root ball shame. I have a ornamental cherry root ball to turn but that will be something for the future
