I don't own a pro edge but do have a wet grinder(Not used for turning tools)I would never think of using that to reshape a tool as it is like you have found out too slow I still have a bench grinder which is great for metal removal and then I would go back to my wet system. The same would apply...

I Forgot about the Sorby jig for the odd hole I made a wooden insert for the drill size I needed if needed, for a lot of holes then find some one to make up a metal one or two because even these will wear over time unless hardened
