Any ideas what this might fit?

It's obviously the anvil for a metal nibbler, which I must have bought thinking it would fit my Bosch 2mm capacity job. But it doesn't. The square flange at the top is 19mm by 19mm, as is the diameter of the cylindrical piece. Overall length is 55mm. It's never been used. There's no cutter...

    Kity riving knife

Found this while searching for summat else. Never been used, so no idea which Kity saw it fits, and there seems to be a bit of storage corrosion of the plating, but if you think it might suit you, even just as a pattern, would £1 plus second class postage (preferably BACS) be of interest?

Fantastic old tools resource - TATHS newsletters

Me too, but not sure if òur broadband will download the files in my lifetime to be able to read them!

Bandsaw wandering when resawing pallet wood

Definitely recommend a point fence for that application, but on my saw (the ubiquitous ex-school 352) finger pressure giving 10mm deflection would say not enough tension.

+1. Even its mother would have a problem!

    RACAL VISOR SPARES

PM sent. I do still use one, though not the original as that fell into pieces quite a while back. Found a S/H one locally, which cannibalised well. I'm unclear why the filters have a use-by date and the one in mine is probably, no, definitely, many years past it. I actually prefer my Record...

    Plane spares

That's a nice idea, MusicMan. Local Rotary has a collection for Tools for Self Reliance, so it would make sense to give anything left over to their next one, which is usually in April. Always try to give them something, but usually end up also paying them more than they ask for an interesting...

    Plane spares

Scotland's a bit place, so I'm guessing the chance of your dad being within easy reach of Aberdeen is pretty small!

    Plane spares

Rooting around my workshop for something else, found my box of plane spares, squirreled together over the years. Chances of my using them are pretty slim - as they aren't regular wearing parts. They include a couple of brand new complete frogs, several new cast adjuster yokes, brass adjuster...

    RACAL VISOR SPARES

I have that one. It's called the Airlite, though was told by a Racal employee that within the company, they substituted sh for the l in the name. Not sure if Racal still supply spares, but pretty sure noone else does them.

Planer Thicknesser blades - unusual set-up situation... ?

Two suggestions. 1. Grandmothers, eggs, etc, but have you thoroughly waxed the thicknesser table? On my C200, that makes a heck of a difference. 2. Are the thickness roller bearings able to drop to the bottom of their slides? Again on the C200, chips can build up in that space and stop the...

Sinking / insetting a cupboard into dry wall/OSB

If what I'm picturing is right, however you do it, one day you will forget to put the loo lid down, open the cupboard and drop whatever is most delicate/expensive straight into the loo. DAMHIKT.

    Track saw ... drift.

Ah, but they aren't the cheapskates like me with Lidl saws!

    Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhh

That is just dreadful. My first "proper" woodworking machine, bought for about a fiver from the local auction room, missing one of the feet for the bed bar. Half an hour with the welder and some red paint and it earned its keep for a couple of years before being replaced with a Consort.

    Track saw ... drift.

You mean there are people who use track saws WITHOUT clamps??? (Ok, it can be a faff clamping, but surely it's better than wrecking a piece of timber?)

Do you use what you make?

In my case, it's a different question."Do you turn things you don't need/use?" Answer , not often.

    TV sound question

Thanks, all, especially Nev and ETV. Whatever is next move, this oldie is certainly confused at a higher level! Will have a careful read and think. Oh, yes the TV was a fairly good Samsung, if that's relevant.

    TV sound question

Regular customer of CPC (to the extent that I could probably build a house from their weekly catalogues!) but already had SCART plug to mail phono plug leads in my spares box. The TV has only one SCART socket, so have a two scart extender attached, with the various inputs from sat box and DVD...

    Any classic vehicle wiring experts?

From (far too many!) years working on what are now called "classic" cars, but were generally "heaps" in the old days, your problem sounds much more like dynamo than control box, though the latter are not unknown. Do you have a meter of any sort, to check that the dynamo is actually putting out...

    Startrite bandsaw 351SB or 301SB

Replacing those pads on my beloved 352 has been on the round tuit list for too long. Two questions - what search term is most effective at finding the tips on the 'bay and can they be brazed/silver soldered in place of the originals? (I have an irrational dislike for epoxy in such applications).
