    H&S look away now

Roger - is that a Gillingham green one?? If so I think we may have a problem :D :D

    H&S look away now

Andy - re morticers I don't know, and best not find out :D I do intend to stop now, honest. Re the beams, I designed and built the roof originally, the loft-style platforms were intended to store timber stock and will easily take a ton plus (distributed of course), but horizontals are tied...

    H&S look away now

Yes Steve, that needs explaining. It started with the 352 Bandsaw, then someone here came forward with a PT260. At that point I knew I had to get the set. Hence the Tsaw. All done now. Green, solid, simple, sensible... and 'Made in England'. There are some here will be calling me a collector

    H&S look away now

Indeed Skills, (pickies etc) but I didn't see patience at all... blind stubbornness, determination, a risk-appetite. I am planning a mini-review of this beast once it is tuned and sorted - my 3rd Startrite in about 4 weeks. And here is where it stops, promise. [Still here by the way so it worked...

    H&S look away now

Well, it's sort of woodwork. 220Kg of Startrite Tsaw, strung up by 2 retired mainsheets (one for the sailors) to a structural beam in the workshop roof. I originally did the sums on the roof and reckoned it would take this easily. Sorry, shaky shot off the phone again - it isn't the phone, just...

advice - best crosscut blade for Tsaw?

Hi Mark - had a look at Wealden, but I did speak with Doug Perry and will try one of his first - good price, good advice. Have to say the blade on this machine (12" Startrite) will be easy to beat  A brand new Atkinson Walker 300 x 40T, but to be fair Lee at ALT did say it was a cheap basic...

advice - best crosscut blade for Tsaw?

Thanks Mark. I have spoken with Doug Perry and he recommends a 300, 64 tooth. Sounds a bargain at about £35 plus vat and shipping (under £50 maybe all in). I had looked briefly at some Freuds which seem around 65 - 70. I shall be trying one of the Cutting Solutions I expect. Will look at Wealdon...

advice - best crosscut blade for Tsaw?

I use my Table saw mainly for cross-cutting and am considering investing in a really good dedicated cross-cut blade. I'm sure this has come up before but cannot find the thread using search. I have been pleased with Freud Pro before, but any advice - it'll need to be a 305mm, 30 arbor. with thanks

    workshop dust control - again!

Excellent feedback... this sounds more promising to me than before. I accept the fan impeller will probably get coated in the fine dust, but sealed bearings etc, and have you ever had to clean someone else's old bathroom extractor (after a house move) - covered in grey stuff that is actually...

    Startrite 352 - an overview

Is the market sharpening up on this fine machine? Just seen a nice 1 phase 352 close at £820 about an hour ago. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230868531756? ... 1423.l2649 Mind you, it looked like a very nice one, and is still way less than anything new that could get close in build and...

    Startrite 352 - an overview

Will do Mister, just need to get the camera out. Also have a 2 pager on the pt260 (planer thicknesser) - there will be a thread along on that soon no doubt

    Victorian chair steps - WIP

Very close now Andy, and looking really good. Keep the momentum up :D CC is right, my fluted leg chess table is suffering from having been set aside.... it seems to freeze up and needs a good kick to get it started again. p.s. re 'character features', I sometimes call them 'handmade...

    workshop dust control - again!

I know this is a much-discussed topic but wonder if anyone has tried a basic axial extractor (out through the eaves I am thinking) to try and extract the very fine airbourne dust? I currently use a Record 4000 twin-motor 4" - on the bandsaw and sometimes the Tsaw. I have a Jet ceiling mounted...

Help! Untreated Exterior Oak door suggested treatment?

Come on BB - tell me you made it ??! [edit, sorry, just noticed you refer to the joiner]. I haven't heard of Morrells Omina coatings or the external osmo oil - will research, but I'm with Paul - the Classic Sadolins is mighty fine, very low build and really stable. Agree a quick wipe with wire...

ALT Saws - the Startrite man

Andy, you must pop by for tea... not as bad as it sounds: 2 benches, the morticer is outside under the 'portico' and the new Tsaw replaces the existing one. There was a time recently when I had 4 bandsaws (even Ian at Tuffsaws was impressed). This Startrite is a total GEM... so excited. Pics...

ALT Saws - the Startrite man

Managed a trip to Gillingham today to see Lee and get some spares for my 352 bandsaw. A brilliant place - a spares store rammed with parts for most machines, from guides (brand new) to new wheels, every nut and bolt etc. Lee knows these machines inside out and used to work at Startrite when it...

    psd to html coder needed

thanks Loz - but I don't want to even touch this myself, need to hire a coder. I need pages integrated into existing graphic UI, and tracks uploaded etc.I think it's more than pure auto coding off the psds.

    psd to html coder needed

An odd one, but maybe someone can help. I have been let down by an Indian team, and urgently need some simple psd > html site updates done, it's for a band and they don't have piles of cash  I reckon it's about 12 hrs for a decent coder. If anyone could point me to a reliable resource I...
